You'll shape the architecture of our backend services, make key technical decisions around scalability and data, and stay close to the code as a hands-on contributor. You'll work with high-throughput, distributed systems where concurrency, consistency, and performance really matter, and you'll help raise the engineering bar across the team.\nWHAT YOU WILL DO\nDesign, build, and evolve backend services in Java (and Go where it fits), from architecture through to production.\n\nDefine and drive architectural decisions for distributed, horizontally scalable systems.\n\nBuild event-driven systems on Kafka and design data flows that handle eventual consistency correctly.\n\nModel and optimize data across PostgreSQL, Redis, and analytical stores such as ClickHouse or Apache Doris.\n\nWrite efficient, safe concurrent code, and review others' concurrency designs.\n\nProfile and tune applications for latency, throughput, and memory usage, including JVM and garbage collection tuning.\n\nBuild and run services on AWS in close collaboration with our DevOps team.\n\nMentor other engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and pairing.\n\nWHAT YOU BRING\nRequired\n\nAt least 5 years of experience working as a Senior Developer or Architect.\n\nExpert-level Java.\n\nDeep experience with Spring (Boot, Data, etc.) and Hibernate/JPA, including an understanding of what happens under the hood.\n\nStrong command of multi-threading and concurrency in Java: CompletableFuture, thread pools and executors, the fork/join framework, synchronization primitives, and common pitfalls.\n\nA solid grasp of distributed systems concepts, including eventual consistency, idempotency, and horizontal scaling.\n\nHands-on experience with Kafka in production.\n\nStrong PostgreSQL skills, including schema design, query optimization, and indexing.\n\nExperience using Redis for caching, rate limiting, or other patterns.\n\nExperience building and running services on AWS.\n\nPractical knowledge of JVM internals, garbage collectors (G1, ZGC, etc.), and performance tuning with tools like profilers, heap dumps, and GC logs.\n\nNice to have\nExperience with Go/Rust/TypeScript.\n\nExperience deploying and running services on Kubernetes.\n\nAn interest in CI/CD and DevOps practices, and in owning your services all the way to production.\n\nExperience with ClickHouse, Apache Doris, or other columnar/OLAP databases.\n\nExperience designing systems with high availability and fault tolerance.\n\nExperience with observability tooling such as OpenTelemetry and distributed tracing.\n\nExperience working with LLMs and agentic workflows, whether using tools like Claude Code or Codex in your development process or building LLM-powered solutions.\n\nWHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU\nCompetitive salary: Attractive compensation and relocation package commensurate with experience and skills.
