This role involves both building and operational support activities to ensure optimal data centre performance and reliability.\n\nThe engineer will be actively involved in activities such as rack installation, cable laying, network device installation, cable dressing, and material handling. In addition, the role includes troubleshooting hardware and connectivity issues, coordinating with customers and OEM vendors, and ensuring all incidents are resolved within defined SLA timelines.\n\nResponsibilities: \nWork on tickets assigned to fix incidents in the data centre; an on-site visit is required.\nTimely updates with accurate work logs to be updated in the ticketing tool.\nMeet all agreed SLA's with the Customer.\nImmediately escalate to the central project team any abnormal situation in the data centre concerning Ericsson equipment at site.\nAsset management on-site at the data centre and reporting.\nSite audit conducted as per the official guidelines.\nSite spare inventory management and reporting.\nRemote support to the onsite engineer to solve the issue.\nSupport other projects within the META program.\n\nBuild activities (Not limited to): \nInstallation and commissioning of compute and network racks.\nFibre and copper cable laying, termination, labelling, and dressing.\nInstallation and configuration support for network and compute devices.\nMaterial receipt, verification, and inventory management.\nPerforming troubleshooting for hardware, link, and connectivity issues.\nEngaging with customers, vendors, and internal teams for issue resolution.\nEnsuring adherence to site safety and quality standards during build and maintenance activities.\nMaintaining documentation related to site build, audits, and asset tracking.\n\nMaterial Delivery and Inventory Management: \nSupport the delivery/logistics team in managing site access and overseeing material inbound and outbound activities.\nEnsure proper handling and storage of materials in designated areas within the data centre.\nCoordinate with the delivery and operations teams to facilitate smooth and timely material delivery.\nBe physically present at the site during deliveries and assist in Proof of Delivery (POD) verification and documentation.\nUpdate and maintain inventory records to reflect newly received or dispatched materials accurately.\nAssist in conducting inventory audits and reconciliation as per customer and compliance requirements.\n\nDomain Activities: \nBreak Fix:\nLink testing and troubleshooting.\nFibre cleaning and troubleshooting.\nFibre and optics replacement.\nReseating equipment and troubleshooting.\nTroubleshooting power and connectivity issues.\nReplace the network equipment, server or part when an RMA is raised.\nAssist and escort vendor engineer in case a server RMA is raised.\nCoordinating with COLO, client and Ericsson teams for issue resolution.\nUsing tools for updating incident/service tickets.\nCarrying out reporting and tasks as assigned by E// PM or MSDM.\nBuild and perform rack and stack activities for hardware devices as per approved layout and design.\nRack fixing as per layout.\nCarry out rack installation and alignment according to data centre floor plans.\nExecute copper and fibre cable laying, patching, cable dressing, laser testing, and loopback testing as per standard build procedures.\nDemonstrate strong understanding of fibre and copper types, including MTP break-out, LC, bundle, and Cat6 cabling.\nSound understanding of patch panel concepts, including installation, labelling, and connectivity management.\nAbility to interpret and work effectively on data centre (DC) layouts and floor designs.\nPerform power redundancy testing and ensure all systems meet design and safety requirements.\nConduct site surveys and audits to verify physical infrastructure readiness and compliance.\nExhibit strong communication and coordination skills while working with Colocation (Colo) vendors, clients, and internal teams.\nPossess solid knowledge of the RMA (Return Material Authorisation) process, including defective part replacement and tracking.\n\nRequirements: \nProven experience in remote troubleshooting and ability to operate effectively in a service desk or data centre environment.\nWillingness to work during non-business hours or in shifts as required by operational needs.\nStrong technical expertise in data centre operations and IT infrastructure, including servers, switches, routers, cabling systems, and fibre optics.\nDemonstrated ability to manage and maintain physical infrastructure within a data centre environment.\nFlexible and adaptable, capable of working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.\nSkilled in reviewing, enhancing, and maintaining Methods of Procedure (MOPs) and operational guidelines.\nStrong focus on service excellence with a customer-first mindset, leveraging multi-domain technical competence.\nAdheres strictly to approved MOPs, safety protocols, and operational instructions without deviation.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively across teams and with customers.\nA proactive team player with strong interpersonal skills, able to work seamlessly with cross-functional teams.\nCapable of handling multiple priorities and engaging with both customers and internal stakeholders under high-pressure situations.\nProficient in spoken and written English to support effective communication in global environments.\n\nTechnical Skills and Experience: \nProven experience in installation, commissioning, and decommissioning of hardware within data centre environments.\nStrong hands-on experience and in-depth understanding of Cisco, Ciena, Juniper, and Arista network devices and technologies.\nExtensive experience in data centre build activities, including rack installation, device mounting, cable laying, labelling, and dressing.\nSolid technical knowledge and experience with HPE servers and their components, including installation, configuration, and maintenance.\nPractical hands-on experience in hardware parts replacement and troubleshooting of physical infrastructure components.\nStrong expertise in optical, copper, and fibre cabling systems, including fibre standards, connector types, and cable management practices.\nExperience working with ticketing systems and managing incidents, service requests, and change activities through established processes.\nSound understanding of the IT Service Management (ITSM) lifecycle, including ticket handling, SLA adherence, escalation management, and stakeholder communication.\n\nEducation and Experience: \nTechnical degree, preferably in the IT/computer science domain.\n2-5 years of hands-on
