This is a key succession-planning role with significant exposure to leadership and future advancement opportunities.\nWhat You'll Do\nLeadership & Operations\nServe as the operational leader and trusted partner to the Project Manager.\nLead and support a diverse workforce responsible for utility operations, maintenance, and public works services.\nManage daily activities of wastewater treatment facilities and associated utility operations.\nDevelop and implement operational improvements that enhance service quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.\nCoordinate workforce planning, scheduling, and resource allocation across multiple departments.\nFoster a culture of accountability, safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.\nFinancial & Strategic Management\nAssist in developing and managing annual operating budgets.\nMonitor revenues and expenditures while analyzing monthly budget variances.\nIdentify opportunities for operational efficiencies and cost savings.\nSupport planning efforts for major capital improvement projects and infrastructure investments.\nTeam Development\nRecruit, interview, train, mentor, and develop personnel.\nProvide coaching and performance feedback to supervisors and staff.\nAdminister performance management and progressive discipline processes.\nBuild high-performing teams through leadership, communication, and employee engagement.\nCompliance & Client Relations\nEnsure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.\nMaintain accurate operational records and regulatory reports.\nEstablish and maintain positive relationships with municipal clients and stakeholders.\nSupport regulatory inspections, audits, and reporting requirements.\nWhat We're Looking For\nRequired Qualifications\nValid driver's license.\nActive Wastewater Operator License (or equivalent state-issued wastewater certification) preferred.\nMinimum of 5 years of supervisory and operational experience in municipal wastewater operations.\nExperience managing, leading, or scheduling large teams of 50+ employees.\nDemonstrated experience leading teams in utility, municipal, public works, or wastewater environments.\nStrong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.\nProven ability to make sound operational, financial, and personnel decisions.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications.\nPhysical Requirements\nThis position requires standing, walking, sitting, bending, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
