We’d love to hear from you.\nAbout the position:\nThe Operations Engineer is responsible for ensuring the stability, reliability, and operational excellence of a portfolio of business-critical applications. The role combines hands-on operational management with continuous improvement responsibilities, driving efficiency, standardization, resiliency, and risk reduction across the application landscape. The ideal candidate is not just an application support engineer. They are an operations leader who can take ownership of a portfolio, create structure where needed, improve processes, build strong business relationships, and continuously increase the reliability and efficiency of the services they support.\nAbout the department:\nWorking within a small Application Engineering team, the engineer is expected to operate independently, proactively identify improvement opportunities, and act as a trusted partner to both development teams and business stakeholders.\nResponsibilities:\nOperational Management\nOwn and coordinate day-to-day operational activities for supported applications.\nLead and coordinate incident resolution, problem management, and root cause analysis.\nManage and support application changes and releases in accordance with change management processes.\nCoordinate and execute Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity testing activities.\nMonitor application health, availability, performance, and capacity.\nEnsure operational processes comply with risk, security, audit, and regulatory requirements.\nContinuous Improvement\nIdentify, propose, and implement operational improvements and automation opportunities.\nDrive standardization, documentation, and process optimization initiatives.\nImprove team resiliency by reducing key-person dependencies and enhancing knowledge sharing.\nEnhance monitoring, alerting, reporting, and operational dashboards.\nPromote a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement.\nCollaboration & Stakeholder Management\nPartner closely with application developers to improve application stability, supportability, and delivery quality.\nBuild strong relationships with business stakeholders and application owners.\nAct as a trusted advisor on operational risks, reliability concerns, and service improvements.\nCoordinate effectively with infrastructure, database, security, and vendor teams when required.\nQualifications and Competencies\n3-4+ years of experience in Application Support, Operations Engineering, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or a similar role.\nDemonstrated experience supporting business-critical applications in a financial services environment.\nStrong experience managing incidents, problems, changes, releases, Disaster Recovery exercises, and production support activities.\nExperience operating within regulated environments with strong audit, risk, and compliance requirements.\nProven ability to work independently and manage priorities with minimal supervision.\nPreferred Technical Skills\nStrong SQL skills.\nWorking knowledge of Oracle databases.\nUnderstanding of application architecture and system integrations.\nExperience with monitoring, alerting, and observability tooling.\nFamiliarity with CI/CD concepts and release management processes.\nScripting and automation experience (PowerShell, Python, Shell scripting or similar).\nMiddleware Engineering: MQ, XFB, SFTP\nBasic development knowledge and ability to interact effectively with software engineers.\nUnderstanding of: Java, Python, APIs and web services, PowerShell Automation & Scripting.\nExperience with reporting and BI platforms such as Cognos and Power BI.\nExperience with DevOps and automation tooling.\nExposure to cloud platforms and modern engineering practices.\nBehavioral Competencies\nSelf-starter with a strong ownership mentality.\nHighly organized and structured approach to work.\nProactive problem solver who identifies opportunities before issues arise.\nStrong analytical and troubleshooting skills.\nExcellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.\nComfortable challenging existing processes and driving improvements.\nAble to balance operational support responsibilities with strategic improvement initiatives.\nTeam player who can work effectively across technical and business teams.\nPreferred Background\nExperience supporting multiple business applications within Banking, Capital Markets, Treasury, Lending, Payments, Finance, Risk, or Regulatory Reporting domains.\nFamiliarity with operational processes in wholesale banking or financial markets environments.\nExperience interacting with auditors, risk teams, and regulatory stakeholders.\nSalary Range: $110,000-140,000\nThe salary range listed reflects base salary only.
