We’d love to hear from you.\nAbout the position:\nThe Senior Application Engineer will be responsible for the development, enhancement, maintenance, and production support of critical enterprise applications within ING Americas. This role requires a hands-on engineer with strong Java development skills, Linux/Unix expertise, and experience supporting applications in a production environment. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, architecture teams, infrastructure teams, and fellow engineers to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable technology solutions.\nAbout the department:\nThe Application Engineering organization is responsible for the development, support, stability, security, and continuous improvement of ING Americas’ business-critical technology platforms. The team manages the full application lifecycle, including solution design, software development, deployment, operational support, automation, and incident resolution. Engineers within the department partner closely with business, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and risk teams to ensure applications remain resilient, compliant, and aligned with business objective\nResponsibilities:\nDesign, develop, test, and implement enhancements for regional business applications.\nProvide 2nd line production support for business-critical applications, including incident troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and issue resolution.\nDevelop and maintain relevant services, APIs, and integrations.\nSupport applications and perform operational troubleshooting.\nCreate, Enhance and/pr maintain relevant scripts/programs to automate operational and support activities.\nAnalyze application logs, system metrics, and monitor data to proactively identify issues and improve platform stability.\nParticipate in software deployments, release activities, and change management processes.\nCollaborate with infrastructure, database, cybersecurity, and business teams to deliver solutions and/or resolve production issues.\nImplement application improvements to enhance performance, scalability, reliability, and security.\nEnsure adherence to engineering standards, secure coding practices, and regulatory requirements.\nContribute to technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge sharing within the team\nQualifications and Competencies\nBachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.\n5+ years of experience developing and supporting enterprise applications.\nTechnical Requirements\nJava (Spring/Spring Boot preferred)\nApache Tomcat\nSQL and database development\nPowerShell and automation scripting\nLinux (RHEL)/Unix environments, including Bash/Shell scripting\nApplication support & production troubleshooting\nStrongly preferred\nREST APIs\nIBM MQ / Enterprise Messaging\nAzure DevOps / CI-CD pipelines\nSWIFT messaging\nDTCC connectivity\nPost-trade processing\nFile-based integrations (CSV/XML)\nAuthentication technologies (LDAP, Active Directory, SAML/OIDC/Entra ID)\nFinancial Markets domain experience\nSecurities and Trade lifecycle processing\nRegulatory reporting\nException management and reconciliation\nFront-office to back-office integration flows\nHourly Rate: $65-82\nING is a committed equal opportunity employer.
