As part of this journey, we are modernizing our existing Cognos landscape and moving towards a scalable, automated and cloud-native platform built on GCP and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE)\nYour day to day\nYou will work at the intersection of analytics, cloud infrastructure and platform engineering. Your responsibility goes beyond simply running Cognos: you will help build the platform around it, automate its deployment and operations, and integrate it securely into ING's wider cloud ecosystem.\nYou enjoy working with modern technologies and are proactive in keeping your knowledge up to date. You are equally comfortable discussing platform architecture and getting hands-on with Kubernetes, pipelines, Terraform or troubleshooting a containerized workload.\nYou combine long-term architectural thinking with a practical, hands-on attitude. We combine engineering, analytics, UX and data science to deliver valuable solutions and platforms for our organization.\nYou will be part of an international and multicultural environment, collaborating with engineers and stakeholders across multiple ING locations.\nThe team encourages experimentation, engineering ownership, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.\nYour responsibilities:\nBuild and operate IBM Cognos Analytics as a containerized platform on GCP.\nDeploy and maintain Cognos workloads on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).\nEngineer the infrastructure required to support Cognos and its surrounding platform components.\nCreate and maintain Terraform-based Infrastructure as Code.\nDevelop and maintain Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and platform deployments.\nAutomate Cognos installation, configuration, deployment and lifecycle-management activities wherever possible.\nSupport the modernization and migration of existing Cognos environments towards the new GCP-based platform.\nOperate the platform after deployment and support its users and tenants.\nManage monitoring, logging and alerting for Cognos and the underlying platform.\nTroubleshoot issues across the application, container, Kubernetes and GCP infrastructure layers.\nImplement and maintain secure authentication, authorization and communication between platform components.\nContribute to platform architecture, technical designs and engineering experiments.\nImprove platform reliability, scalability, maintainability and security.\nEliminate operational toil by automating repetitive activities with code.\nCreate technical documentation, operational procedures and reusable engineering patterns.\nCollaborate with other engineering teams to integrate Cognos with the wider ING data and cloud ecosystem.\nWhat you’ll bring to the team\nYou have hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and building or operating platforms in a public-cloud environment.\nYou have strong knowledge of Kubernetes, preferably Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).\nYou understand container technologies and have experience deploying and operating containerized applications.\nYou have an Infrastructure as Code mindset, preferably using Terraform.\nYou have hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps.\nYou understand automated infrastructure and application deployment practices.\nYou have experience with relevant managed GCP services such as GKE, GCS, BigQuery and Cloud Logging/Monitoring.\nYou have hands-on experience with monitoring, logging, alerting and troubleshooting distributed applications.\nYou have knowledge of secure authentication and encrypted workloads, including technologies and concepts such as OIDC, IAM, KMS and SSL/TLS.\nYou are comfortable scripting and automating operational activities. Python and Bash experience is an advantage.\nYou understand networking concepts relevant to cloud and Kubernetes environments.\nYou are willing to continuously learn and improve both yourself and the platform.\nYou can clearly communicate ideas, technical decisions and architectural concepts, including documenting complex solutions and collaborating with engineers across multiple teams.\nExperience migrating enterprise applications from on-premises infrastructure to GCP.\nStrong hands-on experience with GKE.\nExperience designing or operating highly available Kubernetes-based platforms.\nExperience with Terraform modules and Azure DevOps YAML pipelines.\nExperience with container registries, image lifecycle management and deployment automation.\nKnowledge of cloud networking, ingress, load balancing, DNS and certificate management.\nExperience with platform observability and operational dashboards.\nExperience optimizing cloud infrastructure for performance,
