ING is a Dutch banking group formed in 1991 by the merger of the postal bank NMB Postbank and the insurer Nationale-Nederlanden, and it was among the first large banks to build a direct, branch-light retail model. It serves retail customers in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Spain and several other markets through mobile-first banking, and runs a substantial wholesale bank covering lending, transaction services and financial markets for corporate clients. Headquartered in Amsterdam and listed on Euronext, the group divested its insurance operations after the financial crisis to focus on banking.

At ING, we're passionate about making banking simpler, smarter and more accessible for our customers.

As Retail Performance & Value Management Lead, you'll sit at the centre of some of our most critical business decisions, partnering with senior leaders across Product, Finance, Treasury, Risk and Technology to optimise performance, influence investment decisions and drive sustainable growth.

Reporting to the Head of Retail Performance & Value Management, this is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction and commercial success of our Retail Bank.

Combining strategy, commercial performance, financial insight and executive governance, this highly visible role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across the organisation.

If you're energised by solving complex business challenges, translating insights into action and influencing senior stakeholders, join us and help shape the future of retail banking at ING.

What You'll Do

  • Lead Retail strategy, investment prioritisation and business planning, helping shape the future direction of the Retail Bank.
  • Drive forecasting, planning and commercial performance analysis across deposits, mortgages, profitability, growth and balance sheet optimisation, partnering closely with Finance, Treasury and Product teams.
  • Develop strategic insights, business cases and scenario modelling to support executive decision-making, investment choices and commercial outcomes.
  • Track business case performance, benefits realisation and strategic initiatives to ensure investments deliver sustainable value and intended outcomes.
  • Influence business direction through executive and board reporting, while leading Retail-wide communications including town halls, leadership updates, newsletters and strategy forums.

What We're Looking For

  • Significant experience in banking, strategy consulting, commercial management, corporate strategy or business leadership roles.
  • Strong understanding of retail banking, including performance drivers, pricing, profitability, financial management, balance sheet dynamics and funding.
  • Advanced analytical, financial modelling and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to turn complex data into actionable insights.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to influence senior executives and engage diverse audiences.
  • A strategic and commercial mindset combined with strong execution capability, prioritisation skills and a track record of delivering results in fast-paced environments.

What’s in it for you?

  • Discounted ING Health Insurance
  • An additional Rest Day to support your wellbeing
  • An IMPACT day to volunteer on approved sustainability activity
