ING is a Dutch banking group formed in 1991 by the merger of the postal bank NMB Postbank and the insurer Nationale-Nederlanden, and it was among the first large banks to build a direct, branch-light retail model. It serves retail customers in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Spain and several other markets through mobile-first banking, and runs a substantial wholesale bank covering lending, transaction services and financial markets for corporate clients. Headquartered in Amsterdam and listed on Euronext, the group divested its insurance operations after the financial crisis to focus on banking.

As a Senior Engineer in Global Workplace Services, you will be a technical authority and hands-on platform engineer for Microsoft 365, AI and automation capabilities used across ING. You will design, operate and continuously improve the generic Microsoft 365 platform, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Studio, Power Platform, connectors, consumption-based services and the automation capabilities that support our workplace services.

  • Apply strong engineering practices, including secure coding, peer review, automated testing, configuration control, documentation, monitoring and structured problem management.
  • Ensure platform changes and automation are reproducible, traceable, auditable and supported by appropriate evidence.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to Microsoft 365, AI, automation, integrations, connectors and Messaging services.
  • Contribute to cyber-resilience, business-continuity, audit, privacy, sourcing and compliance activities.
  • Apply least-privilege, separation-of-duties and privileged-access principles to administrative and automated capabilities.
  • Develop dashboards, alerts and telemetry that make platform health, control effectiveness, consumption and operational risks visible.
  • Use incidents, service data and control findings to drive continuous improvement.

Stakeholder Collaboration and Technical Leadership

  • Work closely with Product Managers, Chapter Leads, IT Area Leads, architects, engineers, security, risk, compliance, legal, sourcing and support teams.
  • Translate business needs and policy requirements into practical engineering solutions and reusable platform capabilities.
  • Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders during designs, changes, incidents, risk assessments and service reviews.
  • Challenge proposed solutions constructively and promote standardization, reuse and automation before introducing additional complexity.
  • Coach other engineers, review technical work and strengthen engineering maturity across the chapter.
