We treat it as a way to deliver more value to customers, not just to write code faster.\nAbout the role\nWe're looking for a Developer Team Lead to lead one of our web product teams. This is a small, senior, highly autonomous team. You won't be supervising juniors. You'll be a partner to experienced engineers: bringing the team together, building the right processes, and keeping the team efficient, aligned, and focused on the right problems.\n\nThe role combines hands-on engineering and leadership. You'll write code, make architectural decisions, and lead the team's AI adoption, while also owning people management, planning, and prioritization. You'll report directly to the Engineering Director. You'll work closely with a Product Manager and a dedicated Product Designer, and alongside other team leads and our DevOps team.\n\nWhat you'll do\nLead the team\nRun regular 1:1s, monitor performance, and support each engineer's growth, including compensation and career conversations.\n\nOwn the team's high-level planning and prioritization, together with Product and Design.\n\nBuild and improve the processes that keep a senior team synchronized and effective, without adding bureaucracy.\n\nTake part in hiring, onboarding, and performance reviews.\n\nDrive AI adoption\nLead the AI transformation in your team. Set the pace instead of waiting for it to be defined for you.\n\nGo beyond basic prompting. Use AI to research unfamiliar systems, identify gaps, automate repetitive work, and speed up delivery.\n\nExperiment with new tools and workflows, standardize what works, and share it with your team and across engineering.\n\nLook for ways AI can deliver business value: lower costs, shorter delivery times, higher quality, and solutions that weren't practical before.\n\nBuild the product\nStay hands-on: write code, review code, and own the technical direction of your team's modules.\n\nMake sound architectural decisions in a large modular monolith.\n\nUse customer insights to challenge solutions, propose improvements, and help decide what to build and in what order.\n\nKeep improving the codebase by reducing legacy code, adding tests, and keeping dependencies current.\n\nOur tech and engineering approach\nStack: PHP 8.5, Laravel 13, PostgreSQL\n\nArchitecture: a large modular monolith. Modules communicate through facades, adapters, or events, which keeps boundaries clear. More complex modules use DDD.\n\nPhilosophy: code that's easy to test and reason about. Business logic lives in clear PHP classes, separate from the framework, with no \"magic.\"\n\nQuality: pipelines with PHPStan, PHPCS, and unit, integration, and end-to-end tests, all supporting automatic deployments. DevOps owns infrastructure, so you can focus on building.\n\nAI tooling: Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, and whatever else helps us move faster. We revisit our tools regularly because they improve quickly.\n\nWhat we're looking for\nMust-haves\nPeople management experience. You've already led developers, including 1:1s, performance, and team processes. This isn't a first step into management.\n\nStrong backend engineering. Advanced PHP 8.1+ with Laravel or Symfony, and experience building large, scalable applications.\n\nTechnical leadership and architecture. You've led the technical side of complex projects: making design decisions, not just carrying them out.\n\nHands-on AI adoption. You already use AI tools in your daily engineering work and are excited to push further. You don't need deep AI expertise, but you do need the energy to lead this.\n\nProduct mindset. You care about the \"why,\" think about business impact, and want to shape solutions, not just implement specs.\n\nTesting. Solid experience with PHPUnit and a good testing strategy across unit, integration, and functional tests.\n\nEnglish at B2 level or higher.\n\nNice-to-haves\nExperience with modular monoliths (microservices experience also counts)\n\nPractical experience with Domain-Driven Design\n\nBackground in SaaS, especially large systems like ERP, CRM, or CMS\n\nExperience in startups or scale-ups where engineers work directly with product decisions\n\nThe kind of person who thrives here\nCurious. You enjoy learning, and you revisit your opinions as tools and practices change.\n\nProactive. You spot problems and opportunities and act on them. You can point to improvements you proposed that were adopted.\n\nDriven. You have the grit to take on hard problems and want to be part of something that could reshape an industry.\n\nA partner.
