As the Customized Formulations Applications & Development Intern, you will support new product development and creating customer valued solutions. You will be responsible for developing/preparing food formulations and prototypes for various customer and business initiatives on a pilot plant and lab bench top scale utilizing Good Manufacturing Practices. You will perform research related duties as needed or assigned, support internal and external customer request; execute on analytical testing as well as document and prepare technical reports with guidance from manager.\nWhat you will do:\nOperating laboratory equipment safely and with little direct supervision to support project needs\nMaintaining a clean, safe work environment; following guidelines for good housekeeping and safety\nManaging work project(s) to meet project timelines and deliverables\nAnalyzing and understanding data, results and scientific literature to advance projects\nWorking collaboratively with Customized Formulations team members and other internal colleagues to meet target objectives\nPerforming laboratory experiments, conduct data analysis and interpret results to make recommendations to project team and support the project\nPresenting prototypes, project status, updates and outcomes to team and key stakeholders\nMaking presentations and writing technical reports\nWhat you will bring:\nProgress towards a Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food or Chemical Engineering or related field with a minimum GPA of at least 3.0/4.0 preferred\nMust have completed at least two years of coursework with status as a sophomore, junior or non-graduating senior\nAbility to work safely in a laboratory environment\nAbility to work 40hrs per week during the summer internship term\nReliable transportation required to get to and from facility each work day\nExperience with hands-on food concept development with laboratory and/or pilot plant equipment is a plus\nKnowledge of common food processes, food ingredient functionality and ingredient interactions preferred\nExcellent interpersonal, verbal and written technical communication skills, e.g. making presentations and writing technical data/reports\nWorking knowledge of basic computer software applications such as MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)\nWho you are:\nProven ability to deliver under agreed upon deadlines\nAbility to work collaboratively with peers and others\nSolid teamwork skills and creative problem solving\nDesire to see and create results\nTo be eligible for consideration, candidates must:\nCurrently possess unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
