Reports to: Senior Manager, Project Engineering & Reliability
Make a difference by leading automation and control projects that enhance process safety, operational reliability, product quality, data visibility, and manufacturing efficiency across our production sites.
As a Senior Project Engineer (Automation & Control), you will lead automation and control engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, from concept development and front-end engineering through detailed design, implementation, commissioning, start-up, and closeout. You will ensure solutions comply with company standards, cybersecurity requirements, approved budgets, schedules, and operational objectives. This role reports to the Senior Manager, Project Engineering & Reliability and has no direct reports.
What you will do:
Lead project execution - Manage the automation and control system scope of capital projects from feasibility through closeout, ensuring safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery.
Design automation systems - Develop and review architectures, control philosophies, functional specifications, and detailed designs for PLC, DCS, SCADA, HMI, historian, and industrial networks.
Integrate control systems - Connect process equipment, instrumentation, electrical systems, MES platforms, and plant control systems for reliable and seamless operation.
Develop capital projects - Support feasibility studies, FEL/FEED deliverables, scope definition, CAPEX estimates, automation strategies, risk assessments, and technical specifications.
Lead commissioning and start-up - Provide technical leadership during FAT, SAT, installation, commissioning, start-up, and performance validation.
Ensure cybersecurity and compliance - Apply corporate cybersecurity standards, industry best practices, engineering regulations, and company safety requirements.
Improve reliability and collaborate - Enhance process-control performance, automation reliability, efficiency, data visibility, and maintainability while partnering with Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Electrical, Process Engineering, EHS, and IT/OT teams.
What you will bring:
Bachelor's degree in Automation, Control, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Minimum 7 years of experience in automation, process control, industrial control systems, or capital project execution within manufacturing or a similar processing industry.
Experience delivering automation and control projects from design through commissioning and start-up, including FEL/FEED, EPC, or brownfield modernization projects.
Strong knowledge of PLC, DCS, SCADA, HMI, industrial communication networks, instrumentation systems, control strategies, and automation architectures.
Ability to travel across multiple sites and good written and spoken English.

Cybersecurity- and safety-conscious, with knowledge of industrial control standards and OT network architecture.
Organized and commercially aware, with attention to scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk.
Hands-on experience with Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell, or Yokogawa systems; MES, historians, Industry 4.0, or a PE license is advantageous.
