Working closely with the Operations Manager and site team, the Operator will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing plant performance at our Toba site. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring reliable energy production by conducting preventative maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and coordinating with contractors and technical specialists.\nA strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving will be essential for success. The Operator will gain hands-on experience with hydroelectric systems and contribute directly to Innergex’s mission of generating clean, renewable energy. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a remote natural setting while collaborating with a passionate team committed to sustainability and operational excellence.\nYour day-to-day!\nOperate and monitor hydroelectric power generation systems, ensuring safe, efficient, and continuous operation through routine inspections, performance tracking, and accurate documentation of all operational and maintenance activities;\nParticipate in the set-up and monitoring of a Preventative Maintenance program for plants and facilities equipment, including the mechanical testing and repair of equipment;\nRead and understand electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, pneumatic and hydraulic drawings;\nCarry out all necessary actions for the troubleshooting and resolution of alarms generated by the hydroelectric power plants to minimize downtime (availability 24 hours a day) when on duty; \nManage and/or assist any specialized contractors needed to perform maintenance and repairs at the power plants; \nParticipate in the daily work planning and operations activities;\nAssist in the management of overflow camp facilities for contractors and visitors;\nAdhere to and implement the Occupational Health and Safety standards at Innergex;\nAdhere to a variable work schedule and reside at the Innergex residence while at the facility.\nYour skills, our requirements!\nCompletion of training as a Red Seal Industrial Electrician, Red Seal Millwright or equivalent, required;\nExperience with hydro plant operations, an asset;\nA minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant or equivalent training and experience to the role;\nMust be a “hands-on”, self-starter;\nHave good interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal, and computer);\nComfortable in spending many consecutives days in a remote camp location;\nCommitment to further education relevant to the role: Innergex provides formal and in-house training, as required;\nRelevant or equivalent training and experience to the role, experience as a Journeyman Industrial Electrician is preferred;\nPossess a BC driver’s license in good standing as well as a general appreciation for outdoors;\nExperience with 4-wheel drives and snowmobiles is required (Class 1 or Class 3 driver’s licence, Level 3 crane operator an asset);\nExperience in instrumentation, an asset;\nExperience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing mechanical, electrical, and electronic control systems and other related devices, an asset;\nExperience with welding and fabrication, an asset;\nStaying in Camp on an 8 days in / 6 days out schedule;\nTraveling in an out of site via forest service roads;\nAdvanced First Aid (level 3) would be an asset;\nCombination of indoor hydro facility, outdoor and office work;\nBasic computer skills.\nAdditional considerations!\nThe position is based at our Toba site in British Columbia.\nThis position is an O3 level.\nOur benefits!\nCompetitive salary and annual bonus;\nThree weeks vacation to start; \n100% Innergex-funded medical insurance from day one of employment, including primary care services through dialogue (or telemedicine) for permanent positions;\nGroup retirement plans with employer participation;\n100% employer-funded wellness account;\nElectric vehicle (E-VIP) incentive program;\nCareer development opportunities.\nPay Transparency Statement\nCompensation for roles at Innergex varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, education, and level of experience.We believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer.\nIn the spirit of pay transparency we are excited to share that the base salary for the position is $ 80 000 - $102 000, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses.
