This role\nplays a vital role in situational awareness and operational continuity for mission-critical enterprise systems and services across the Department of Defense. The ideal candidate brings a proactive approach to monitoring, coordinating, and reporting on operational status across complex IT environments. The Ops Controller oversees day-to-day security operations, drives best practices, promotes automation, and champions continual service improvement initiatives to optimize security operations and reduce organizational risk.\nKey Responsibilities:\nServe as the primary point of contact for coordination of operational security activities, monitoring, and change management.\nMonitor enterprise operations for system health, availability, and performance using various monitoring tools.\nCoordinate real-time responses to outages, incidents, and service degradations; ensure timely escalation and resolution.\nLead incident and problem management activities, including root cause analysis and remediation.\nTrack and document scheduled and unscheduled service interruptions (Authorized Service Interruptions - ASIs).\nMaintain operational documentation, daily activity logs, and cybersecurity registers.\nProvide 24/7 mission support during shift-based operations, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.\nSupport operational reporting and analysis to improve situational awareness, operational tempo, and mission readiness.\nInterface with system administrators, network engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and government stakeholders.\nManage change control processes, minimizing risk to cybersecurity services.\nEnsure team compliance with processes, procedures, and Systems Engineering principles.\nCommunicate status and operational health to stakeholders, including senior leadership.\nDrive continuous improvement initiatives within cybersecurity operations.\nHave strong verbal and written communication skills\nBe able to interact effectively with senior leadership.\nBasic Requirements:\nMust have 6, or more, years of general (full-time) work experience and may be reduced with completion of advanced education\nMust have 4, or more, years of directly related experience in IT operations management, network control center (NCC), or enterprise operations center (EOC) roles.\nMust have 6, or more, months of experience working in a management or leadership role\nMust have IT Operational Management experience spanning multiple enterprise environments, including DoD and commercial.\nMust have a deep understanding of ITIL framework and best practices, including incident management, problem management, change management, and service release management.\nMust be familiar with enterprise monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Splunk, Netcool, HP OpenView, etc.).\nMust have 1, or more, 8570 or 8410 compliant certifications\nMust have an active DoW Secret Security Clearance\nDesired Requirements:\nHave a Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in computer science, Information Technology,\nHave experience in a specific industry (e.g., MDA, DoD IT Operations).\nHave project management experience.\nHave an ITIL Strategic Leader certification.\nHave 1, or more, certifications:ITIL Certification (e.g., ITIL 4 Foundation, ITIL 4 Managing Professional)\nRelevant technical certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate)\n\nThis position is expected to pay $150,000 - $180,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.\nIDS is committed to providing superior work in the fields of science, engineering, data analytics and technology to government agencies.
