This role provides direct supervision to Team Leaders and frontline employees, coordinates transportation and inventory activities, and supports exceptional service for internal and external customers. The Supervisor, Transportation Operations partners closely with the Distribution Center Manager to drive operational performance, maintain regulatory compliance, develop employees, and ensure the timely fulfillment and delivery of customer orders.Key Accountabilities\nSupervise daily transportation, warehouse, receiving, inventory, order fulfillment, and shipping operations to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.\nProvide direct leadership, coaching, scheduling, training, and performance management for Team Leaders and frontline employees.\nAssign and prioritize daily work activities to ensure operational objectives, productivity targets, and service commitments are achieved.\nMonitor transportation activities, route execution, and fleet utilization to ensure compliance with DOT regulations, company policies, and safety requirements.\nEnsure customer orders are accurately picked, staged, shipped, and delivered within established service standards.\nServe as a primary point of contact for Customer Service, Sales, Operations, and customers regarding shipment status, operational issues, service concerns, and delivery inquiries.\nMaintain compliance with SOPs, work instructions, quality standards, DOT regulations, and all applicable company and government requirements.\nPromote a culture of safety by conducting safety observations, leading employee training, investigating incidents, and implementing corrective actions.\nSupport inventory management activities including cycle counts, inventory accuracy initiatives, product reconciliation, and inventory control processes.\nMonitor facility, fleet, and warehouse equipment conditions and coordinate maintenance requests to ensure operational readiness.\nTrack operational performance metrics and communicate results to the Distribution Center Manager while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.\nProvide hands-on operational support, including warehouse activities, material handling, and delivery route coverage as required by business needs.\nRespond to off-hours operational issues, customer concerns, or emergency situations as needed.\nAssist with employee onboarding, training, and development initiatives to build a highly engaged and capable workforce.\nSupport implementation of process improvements that enhance safety, efficiency, quality, and customer service performance.\nOther duties as assigned.\nMinimum Requirements\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required.\nMinimum 1 year of supervisory experience in transportation, distribution, warehouse, logistics, or supply chain operations, including experience leading employees in a fast-paced environment.\nValid driver's license and Class B CDL required with an acceptable driving record; ability to obtain and maintain required DOT qualifications and certifications.\nExperience with transportation coordination, warehouse operations, inventory control, safety procedures, and regulatory compliance requirements.\nStrong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.\nStrong communication, interpersonal, and coaching skills with the ability to effectively collaborate across all levels of the organization.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.\nPreferences\nAssociate's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related field.\n3+ years of transportation, warehouse, or logistics supervisory experience.\nWorking knowledge of DOT regulations, transportation compliance, and fleet management requirements.\nExperience operating and supervising CDL delivery operations.\nForklift certification and experience operating warehouse equipment.\nExperience with ERP, transportation management, warehouse management, or inventory control systems.\nExperience with Samsara or similar fleet management and telematics platforms.\nExperience supporting distribution operations involving temperature-sensitive, regulated, or specialty products.\nContinuous improvement, Lean, or process optimization experience.\nKnowledge of inventory planning and inventory accuracy best practices.\nWorking Conditions & Physical Requirements\nAbility to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.\nAbility to stand, walk, bend, reach, climb, and perform physical warehouse duties throughout the workday.\nWork is performed in warehouse, dock, transportation, and office environments with varying temperatures, noise levels, and environmental conditions.\nFrequent operation of warehouse equipment, forklifts, pallet jacks, and company vehicles as required.\nSubject to DOT safety, medical certification, and drug-testing requirements.\nMust be able to maintain a valid Class B CDL and acceptable driving record.\nAbility to safely operate commercial vehicles and cover delivery routes when business conditions require.\nMust be available to work flexible schedules, including occasional weekends, holidays, and extended hours.\nAbility to respond to after-hours operational emergencies when needed.\nMay require occasional travel between distribution centers, customer locations, or company facilities.\n*This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience.
