You help shape platform strategy, cloud modernization, identity and security architecture, and large-scale distributed systems that support multiple teams and business units. In this role, you translate business goals into technical direction, influence engineering decisions across organizational boundaries, and mentor senior engineers while remaining deeply involved in solving complex technical problems.\nWhat You'll Do\nLead architecture and design reviews for secure, reliable, and highly scalable enterprise platforms.\nDefine and drive engineering standards, architectural principles, testing strategies, and technical governance across teams and product areas.\nTranslate business and product objectives into technical strategies, roadmaps, and modernization initiatives.\nDrive adoption of cloud-native, event-driven, microservices, and identity-first architectures across mission-critical platforms.\nIdentify architectural risks and technical debt, and establish practical plans to improve long-term maintainability, scalability, and reliability.\nInfluence technical direction across multiple engineering teams and business units by aligning design decisions, platform strategy, and implementation approaches.\nContribute directly to critical initiatives through system design, coding, code reviews, and hands-on technical problem solving.\nDesign and evolve distributed systems, Java and Spring Boot services, and resilient microservice architectures that support high-volume workloads and millions of users.\nDesign efficient data models and optimize PostgreSQL and other relational database workloads to improve performance and scalability.\nDrive performance testing, capacity planning, failure testing, observability, interoperability, and operational readiness across APIs, services, platforms, and enterprise systems.\nWhat You'll Need\n12 + years of experience in Software Development.\nGraduation or equivalent combination of education and experience required.\nDeep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, distributed systems, relational databases, cloud platforms, and modern identity architectures.\nStrong architectural judgment and the ability to translate product and business objectives into technical strategies and roadmaps.\nExperience designing scalable, secure, and reliable enterprise platforms and distributed systems.\nExperience building and evolving microservices, event-driven systems, and cloud-native architectures.\nStrong experience with PostgreSQL and other relational databases, including data modeling and workload optimization.\nAbility to influence across organizational boundaries and drive alignment across multiple engineering teams and business units.\nProven ability to mentor senior engineers and lead complex technical initiatives.\nDemonstrate growth potential and learning agility by continuously expanding technical depth, evaluating emerging patterns and technologies, and applying new learning to platform modernization and engineering excellence.\nDemonstrate leadership by setting technical direction, influencing cross-functional and cross-team decisions, mentoring engineers, and building alignment around architecture and engineering standards.\nDemonstrate adaptability by navigating changing priorities, evolving business needs, and technical ambiguity while maintaining focus on scalable and reliable outcomes.\nDemonstrate creative thinking by developing practical, forward-looking solutions to architectural challenges, modernization efforts, and system design tradeoffs.\nDemonstrate analytical skills by assessing technical risks, evaluating system behavior and performance, and using data and engineering judgment to guide decisions.\nOur Shared Commitments\nMaintain compliance with Inovalon’s policies, procedures and mission statement;\nAdhere to all confidentiality and HIPAA requirements as outlined within Inovalon’s Operating Policies and Procedures in all ways and at all times with respect to any aspect of the data handled or services rendered in the undertaking of the position; and\nFulfill those responsibilities and/or duties that may be reasonably provided by Inovalon for the purpose of achieving operational and financial success of Employer.\nWork Environment\nThis is primarily a computer-based role performed in a remote, hybrid, or office environment.
