With advanced payment automation solutions and a user-friendly API, we help B2B companies become more efficient, successful, and profitable.\nThe Senior Database Administrator is an essential member of the Technology team, taking ownership of PayTrace’s entire database environment, which includes managing and maintaining production and development databases across multiple platforms. This role requires a highly critical thinker capable of making rapid, well-informed, and independent judgments to support PayTrace’s business-critical systems.Key responsibilities include provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, maintenance, patching, and general support of database systems. This person will also design and architect innovative database solutions, including modernizing the database infrastructure by migrating from MS SQL server to the AWS RDS environment.\nWhat you'll do:\n Database Management & Operations:Create and maintain databases and hosts for Production, Development, and various Test environments.\nEnsure database availability and recoverability meet established Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and guidelines.\nRapidly and accurately resolve database issues utilizing all available tools.\nContinuously monitor and tune database performance. Ensure integrity and availability of all resources, systems, and key processes, including reviewing logs and verifying that scheduled jobs (e.g., backups) are complete.\nPerform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.\nAvailable to address production issues which may require evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday work.\n\n Architecture & Development Support:Automate system administration with a focus on resource efficiency and scalability.\nDesign, implement and maintain database security based on best practices, company security standards and regulatory compliance. \nProvide solutions to development teams when proposed architecture does not support technology strategy.\nAssist developers with designing and tuning database queries and procedures.\nUnderstanding of Technology vision, strategy, infrastructure standards, database platforms, programming languages, and observability and monitoring tools.\nMigrate legacy database structures to support the modernization of the payment processing platform using microservice architecture.\nSupport the Disaster Recovery (DR) strategy and a multi-region active-active setup.\nSupport data pipeline automation to Snowflake.\nCreate and assist users in creating Business Intelligence (BI) reporting.\n\nGeneral & Leadership:Provide technical guidance to data stakeholders.\nRegularly update and review contributions to operational, configuration, and other procedural documentation.\nMake rapid, well-informed, independent judgments in support of PayTrace’s business-critical systems.\nPerform other tasks as assigned by management such as running various reports for the leadership team and data stakeholders.\n\nWhat we need from you:\nEducation & Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology/Computer Science or an engineering field.\nMinimum of 5 years of experience supporting databases in an enterprise environment, with at least half of that time primarily in a PostgreSQL environment.\n\n Technical Expertise:Solid knowledge of PostgreSQL version 15.xand MS SQL 1219/2022, with the ability to share that knowledge.\nExperience supporting a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) in both Linux and Windows environments.\nProven experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) technologies: Postgres RDS, SQL Server RDS, Aurora RDS and EC2.\nExperience with Database High Availability / Replication technologies (e.g., AlwaysOn, Postgres HA).\nScripting and automation experience.\n\nProfessional Skills:Experience with troubleshooting problems and formulating resolutions with IT systems and individuals.\nAbility to interact with a variety of clients in a clear, concise, and professional manner.\nSolid understanding and working knowledge of the complete systems development and deployment lifecycle.\nWorking knowledge of all facets of systems administration in a large-scale IT operations unit.\nAbility to make effective decisions in high-pressure situations with limited management escalation.\nExceptional written and verbal communication skills.\n\nHow to stand out (Preferred Skills:\nExperience with Microsoft / Linux administration.\nAWS Certification is a plus.\nMicrosoft MCDBA is a plus.\nSalary Range: $110,000-$175,000\nPay within this range varies by work location and on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
