The position as Automation Chemist is an opportunity for candidates who would like to develop their career from a central role as Automation Chemist into positions like Business Development Manager, Project Manager, Workflow Architect.\nDevelop and optimize automated chemical workflows for synthesis, formulation, and analytical processes\nConfigure and program robotic laboratory systems (liquid handling, solid dispensing, reaction modules)\nCollaborate with customers to understand workflows and translate them into automation solutions\nDesign and execute method development and validation protocols\nSupport system installations and demonstrations, including customer-specific applications\nWork closely with software developers and engineers to refine automation platforms and features\nAnalyze experimental data and provide insights to improve efficiency and reproducibility\nTroubleshoot process, hardware, and system issues, both remotely and on-site\nContribute to application notes, technical documentation, and training materials\nTrain customers and internal teams on automated workflows and best practices\nStay current with advances in chemical automation, high-throughput experimentation, and digital lab technologies\nPerform other duties as required.\nQualifications\nB.S. in Chemistry discipline.\nMinimum 3 years of extensive on-site lab work experience involving industry and scientific instrumentation.\nChemistry and Laboratory Skills: strong hands-on expertise in synthetic, analytical, or formulation chemistry; work experience with reaction setup, purification, characterization techniques; proficiency in analytical instrumentation (HPLC, GC, LC-MS, NMR, UV-Vis, IR); hands-on knowledge of sample preparation and handling techniques; proven knowledge of reaction kinetics, catalysis, or material properties (depending on focus area).\nLaboratory Automation and Robotics: experience with automated liquid handling systems and robotic platforms; working knowledge of high-throughput experimentation (HTE) workflows; familiarity with robotic integration of analytical instruments; proven knowledge of workflow scheduling, batching, and parallel experimentation; design and develop end-to-end automated laboratory workflows for synthesis, formulation, and analytical processes; ability to define and implement workflow logic, sequencing, and scheduling for parallel and high-throughput experimentation; ability to perform method development, validation, and robustness testing to ensure accuracy and reproducibility.\nProgramming & Data Skills: programming/scripting skills (Python, MATLAB, or similar) plus hands on work experience with: automation software, APIs, or scripting environments; data analysis using tools like Excel, Python (Pandas), or JMP; experience with data visualization and reporting tools.\nSystems & Integration: strong understanding of hardware-software integration in lab systems; familiarity with communication protocols between instruments; experience troubleshooting automated systems (mechanical + software).\nTechnical Communication: proven ability to write technical reports, protocols, and application notes; The estimated base salary range for this full-time position is between $78,000 and $105,000 and provides an opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base salary for the role will depend on several job-related factors, including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, the geographic location of the successful candidate, skills, competencies, job-related knowledge, and travel requirements for this position.
