This team owns highly transactional, Tier 0 systems responsible for payment processing, including authorization reversals that occur both at checkout and post-register.\n\nThis person will be expected to independently own clearly defined deliverables from requirements through production. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer who can translate business and technical requirements into robust, highly available solutions while taking ownership across the full software development lifecycle.\n\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign, develop, test, and support highly transactional, business-critical payment applications using Java and Spring Boot\nTake individual ownership of clearly defined technical deliverables from requirements through production deployment\nTranslate requirements and acceptance criteria into scalable, reliable, production-ready code\nBuild and maintain solutions supporting Tier 0 checkout and payment systems\nDevelop highly available architectures within a cloud environment\nWork with both SQL and NoSQL databases\nDevelop event-driven and asynchronous solutions leveraging technologies such as Kafka and other messaging/queue platforms\nParticipate across the full SDLC, including requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and production support\nTroubleshoot production issues and provide hands-on support for critical business and transactional systems\nPartner closely with engineers, product teams, and business stakeholders supporting checkout and payments\nEnsure applications are built with reliability, scalability, resiliency, and production readiness in mind\nOwn code through deployment rather than handing work off after development\nRequired Skills\nStrong hands-on development experience with Java\nStrong experience with Spring Boot\nExperience developing and supporting highly available, high-volume transactional applications\nStrong understanding of REST APIs and microservices architecture\nExperience with SQL and NoSQL databases\nExperience developing applications in a cloud environment\nExperience with Kafka or similar messaging/queue technologies\nStrong understanding of distributed and event-driven systems\nExperience taking applications and code from development through production\nStrong knowledge of the full software development lifecycle\nAbility to independently take requirements and acceptance criteria and turn them into working, robust solutions\nExperience supporting production applications and resolving issues in business-critical environments\nPreferred Experience\nExperience working with Tier 0 or similarly business-critical systems\nExperience within payments, point-of-sale, checkout, retail, or financial transaction processing\nExperience designing for high availability, resiliency, and fault tolerance\nExperience operating in environments where system uptime and transaction reliability are critical\n\nIdeal Candidate\nThis is not a role for someone who is only focused on writing code against assigned tickets.
