This is a department role rather than a position on a single customer project: the engineer will move across concurrent and successive engagements and is expected to act in the best interest of Insight's stakeholders and customers on each of them. This role is ideal for a senior full-stack engineer with deep Java and Spring Boot experience on the backend and production experience building modern web frontends, who takes ownership of outcomes, identifies and fixes problems without waiting for a task to be assigned, helps lead the engineering team on the engagements they join, and uses AI coding tools as a standard part of daily engineering practice. The successful candidate will work closely with Application Development leadership, engagement architects and technical leads, and customer stakeholders to ensure project success from initial definition through final delivery. Along the way, you will get to:\nDesign and implement full-stack features across Java and Spring Boot services and React or Angular frontends on Google Cloud, from technical design through production release, on the engagements they are assigned to\nOwn features, services, and integration areas end to end across the frontend and backend, including estimates, technical design documents, implementation, testing, and deployment\nIdentify problems in code, architecture, process, or delivery and fix them or drive them to resolution without waiting for assignment \nAct in the best interest of Insight's stakeholders and customers when scope, quality, and timeline compete, and raise conflicts to the technical lead and Application Development leadership early\nHelp lead the engineering team: run design discussions and technical standups when needed, unblock other engineers, review code from L3 engineers, and onboard new team members\nFollow and help improve the department's agent-driven delivery procedures, and remain accountable for the correctness of all code delivered, whether written by hand or generated \nParticipate in customer working sessions, present technical options, and document decisions\nMeet the quality, security, and documentation requirements defined in each engagement's SOW\nBe AmbITious: This opportunity is not just about what you do today but also about where you can go tomorrow. When you bring your hunger, heart, and harmony to Insight, your potential will be met with continuous opportunities to upskill, earn promotions, and elevate your career.\nWhat we’re looking for\nRequired Credentials\n8+ years of professional software engineering experience with Java and Spring Boot\nProduction delivery of full-stack web applications, frontend and backend \nProduction delivery experience on Google Cloud Platform\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience \nRequired Qualifications\nJava 17 or later and Spring Boot 3.x microservice development\nREST API design and integration with external systems\nFrontend development with React or Angular and TypeScript\nBuilding responsive, accessible user interfaces from design mockups\nRelational databases (PostgreSQL), including schema design and versioned migrations\nEvent-driven and asynchronous messaging patterns\nAPI security with OAuth 2.0 / OIDC\nAutomated unit and integration testing and CI/CD pipelines\nContainerized deployment on GCP services such as Cloud Run and/or GKE\nDaily use of AI coding assistants and agentic development tools for design, implementation, testing, and review, with the judgment to verify and correct generated output\nOwnership of outcomes: identifying problems in code, design, or delivery and driving them to resolution on their own initiative \nTechnical leadership: leading design discussions, reviewing code, mentoring engineers, and stepping into the technical lead role on an engagement when needed\nClear written and verbal communication with Insight and customer stakeholders\nUseful Qualifications\nGoogle Cloud Professional certifications\nWorkflow or business rules engines (Camunda, Flowable)\nAgent frameworks such as Google ADK\nExperience in government or regulated environments\nPrior consulting or professional services delivery experience\nThe base salary range for this position is typically $130,000 to $150,000 with additional bonus and benefits available.
