This is a department role rather than a position on a single customer project: the engineer will work across concurrent and successive engagements and is expected to act in the best interest of Insight's stakeholders and customers on each of them. This role is ideal for a full-stack engineer with solid Java and Spring Boot fundamentals and hands-on frontend experience who takes ownership of the work in front of them, fixes problems they find rather than waiting for someone to assign them, contributes to the direction of the team, and already uses AI coding tools as part of daily practice. The successful candidate will work closely with the senior engineers and technical leads on their engagements, Application Development leadership, and customer stakeholders to ensure project success from initial definition through final delivery. Along the way, you will get to:\nDesign and implement full-stack features and fixes across Java and Spring Boot services and React or Angular frontends on Google Cloud, on the engagements they are assigned to\nOwn the components assigned to them end to end across the frontend and backend, including design input, implementation, testing, and deployment\nIdentify problems in code, tests, or process and fix them or drive them to resolution without waiting for assignment \nAct in the best interest of Insight's stakeholders and customers, and raise risks and conflicts to the technical lead early\nContribute to leading the team: participate actively in design discussions and code reviews, share what they learn, and help onboard new engineers \nFollow and help improve the department's agent-driven delivery procedures, and remain accountable for the correctness of all code delivered, whether written by hand or generated \nSupport user acceptance testing and defect resolution\nCommunicate progress, risks, and blockers promptly to the technical lead and Application Development leadership\nBe AmbITious: This opportunity is not just about what you do today but also about where you can go tomorrow. When you bring your hunger, heart, and harmony to Insight, your potential will be met with continuous opportunities to upskill, earn promotions, and elevate your career.\nWhat we’re looking for\nRequired Credentials\nProfessional full-stack software engineering experience with Java and Spring Boot on the backend and a modern web framework on the frontend, with a demonstrated record of delivering production features\nHands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform or another major public cloud\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience \nRequired Qualifications\nJava and Spring Boot application development\nREST API implementation and consumption\nFrontend development with React or Angular and TypeScript\nImplementing responsive, accessible user interfaces from design mockups\nRelational databases and SQL (PostgreSQL)\nUnit and integration testing\nGit-based workflows and CI/CD pipelines\nContainer and cloud deployment fundamentals\nDaily use of AI coding assistants and agentic development tools for implementation, testing, and review, with the judgment to verify and correct generated output\nInitiative: identifying defects, gaps, and risks and acting on them without waiting for direction \nCollaboration: contributing to design discussions, code reviews, and team practices\nClear written and verbal communication with Insight and customer stakeholders\nUseful Qualifications\nGoogle Cloud Associate or Professional certification\nMessaging and event-driven systems\nAgent frameworks such as Google ADK\nExperience in government or regulated environments\nThe base salary range for this position is typically $120,000 to $140,000 CAD with additional bonus and benefits available.
