Steward Lead

Job Description:

This position is responsible to lead the Nutrition Steward team when other leadership is not on-site while fulfilling the role of the Nutrition Steward. Resolves immediate issues regarding sanitizing procedures, workflow and rearranging staffing as needed. Escalates to manager as appropriate. This position is responsible for dishwashing and other general housekeeping tasks to maintain the Culinary Department in a sanitary, safe, and attractive condition and to meet hospital, Health Department and Joint Commission standards.

Pay Rate: Based on Experience

Shift Details: Full-time (40 hrs/wk)

Sunday, Monday and Tuesday (AM shifts: 6:30am to 3:00pm)

Wednesday & Thursday (PM shifts: 2:30pm to 9:30pm

Friday & Saturday (Days Off).

Additional Details:

• Ability to communicate effectively in English and utilize computer systems to perform supervisory responsibilities.
• Minimum of one year of experience working in a high-volume dishroom within a team-oriented environment.
• At least six months of experience in a lead or team leadership role.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Food Handler Permit or ServSafe certification is required by first day of work (required only in the states of Utah and Idaho).

• ServSafe certification obtained within 90 days of hire date if not current.

• Demonstrated ability to read and communicate effectively in English.

• Demonstrated ability to lead and work independently as well aspart of a team.

• Demonstrates ability to read color coded labels and chemicals as well as following written and verbal directions

• Demonstrate ability to operatehousekeeping equipment and dish machine(preferred)

Essential Functions

• Leads and maintainsworkflow of assignedarea and ensures tasks are completed.

• Cleans and sanitizes dishes

• Collects carts with patient trays from hospital floors.

• Cleans and disinfects assigned areas including dining areas using department cleaning procedures.

• Uses cleaning chemicals properly according to Joint Commission and OSHA standards.

• Understands procedures and properly disposes of infectious waste and trash.

• Operates and maintainsassigned equipment (e.g.commercial dishwasher) according to established procedures.

• Supports a disciplined environment and provides after hours supervision in the absence of the supervisor

Physical Requirements

• Ongoing need for employeeto see and read information, labels, monitors, identifyequipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.

• Occasional interaction with customers thatrequiresemployeeto communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.

• Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use.

• Expected to lift and utilizefull range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment. Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.

• Remain standing for long periodsof time to perform work.

• Tolerate extremes in temperature such as performing work around dish machinesand tolerate exposure to cleaning chemicals.
