Empower learning with Instructure’s LMS and edtech solutions for K–12, higher education, and businesses. Discover Canvas, Impact, and Mastery to drive success.

At Instructure, we believe in the power of people to grow and succeed throughout their lives. Our goal is to amplify that power by creating intuitive products that simplify learning and personal development, facilitate meaningful relationships, and inspire people to go further in their education and careers.

We do this by giving smart, creative, passionate people opportunities to create awesome. And that's where you come in:

The AI-First HR Operations Lead will build and scale the operational backbone of an AI-driven HR function. You’ll be responsible for identifying opportunities where AI can save time, create efficiency, and drive innovation across the HR organization. This includes designing and deploying custom AI tools and agents, building analytical dashboards, and managing people analytics - all while working directly with HR leaders to spot inefficiencies and deliver rapid, actionable solutions that make a measurable difference.

What You Will Do

  • Find the inefficiencies. Join HR teams, audit workflows, and identify processes where AI can cut time or improve decisions. Build data-driven cases for what to automate or improve.

  • Design and deploy operational AI. Scope, build, and implement AI-powered tools across HR workflows, such as onboarding, AskHR, policy guidance, candidate screening, and benefits Q&A. Own both the functionality and adoption of the solutions you deliver.

  • Own people analytics. Build and maintain dashboards and reports for HR leaders - covering headcount, turnover, compensation analysis, span of control, and DIB metrics. Leverage AI to minimize manual reporting and surface key insights quickly.

  • Scale what works. Launch solutions, track adoption, collect feedback, and iterate rapidly. Focus on delivering useful, live tools and continuously improving them.

  • Partner across HR. Work closely with Talent Management, Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, HR Shared Services, and HRBP teams to understand challenges and build solutions that address them directly.

What You Will Need to Know/Have

  • 5+ years of experience in HR, people analytics, or HR operations, with demonstrated hands-on experience building or deploying AI-powered tools or automation in a business environment.

  • Proven experience with data and analytics - having shipped dashboards or reports that teams rely on, with proficiency in Google Suite, Excel, Workday, or similar tools.

  • Working knowledge of AI systems, including language models, prompt engineering, and agentic tools. Ability to build with platforms such as Claude, Gemini, Rovo, or equivalent.

  • Comfort with ambiguity and high-speed iteration, prioritizing quick delivery of MVP solutions and continuous improvement over waiting for perfection.

  • Strong user-centric mindset, routinely validating tools with HR ops, HR leaders, employees, and managers to ensure practical value.

  • Track record of shipping real, impactful tools or solutions with measurable results.

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, data analytics, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

  • Ability to travel up to 10%

  • Fluent in English

Preferred

  • Experience with Workday or a similar HRIS/ATS platform.

  • Experience working in a global, distributed HR function.

  • People analytics or HR technology certification (e.g., People Analytics certificate, SHRM-CP/SCP).

What We Expect

  • Speed over perfection. Prioritize delivering MVP solutions and iterating rapidly to meet HR needs.

  • Data-driven thinking. Use actionable insights and metrics to prioritize solutions and improvements.

  • Ownership of outcomes. Define and own success metrics, such as adoption, efficiency gains, or accuracy.

  • Transparency about limits and trade-offs. Proactively address privacy, compliance, security, and risk, keeping stakeholders informed.
