And that's where you come in:\nAs a Junior Software Engineer on the uLTImates team, you'll ship real features in Canvas, such as document annotations on the web, usage analytics dashboards or AI-powered course search. You'll learn from experienced engineers and work across frontend, backend, and cloud infrastructure.\nWhat you’ll do:\nBuild and improve features in Canvas, from small fixes to full pieces of new functionality, with guidance from senior engineers.\n\nWrite clean, tested code on both the frontend and the backend of the services our team owns.\n\nTake part in code reviews. You'll get feedback on your work and review the work of others.\n\nInvestigate bugs and production issues, and help fix them using logs, dashboards, and alerts.\n\nJoin planning and refinement with product and design, so you understand why we build what we build.\n\nTake part in our team rituals, such as standups and retrospectives. Share what you learn, and grow your skills in web accessibility, cloud infrastructure, security, and quality.\n\nWhat you will need to know/have:\n0-2 years of experience in software engineering. Internships, personal projects, and bootcamps count.\n\nFluent Hungarian and good working English.\n\nSolid coding fundamentals, including common coding patterns, plus hands-on work with TypeScript and React.\n\nWorking knowledge of relational databases, and a basic understanding of document-based databases.\n\nSome knowledge of testing, and experience with Git and code review.\n\nInterest in frontend development and infrastructure, and a habit of asking questions and learning from feedback.\n\nIt would be a bonus if you also had:\nKnowledge of web accessibility.\n\nInterest in agentic coding, or experience using AI coding tools in your work.\n\nExperience with Java.\n\nExperience with cloud services, or with monitoring and debugging running systems.\n\nExperience building products for education.\n\nGet in on all the awesome at Instructure!\nWe offer competitive, meaningful benefits in every country where we operate.
