Work will be performed at a surface lignite coal mine.Job Description:\nEssential Duties:\nPerform welding repairs and fabrication on mining equipment.\nRead and understand blueprints to assemble and fabricate parts from them.\nLocate and repair cracks in metal parts and structural members.\nAssist mechanics and other maintenance personnel as needed.\nPerform duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety procedures and state and federal environmental regulations.\nPerform other duties as assigned.\nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:\nStrong work ethic with effective communication skills and a creative and innovative attitude.\nAbility to work efficiently in a team environment, as well as individually with minimal supervision.\nWorking knowledge of all phases of welding and cutting of metals and understanding metal properties.\nAbility to read blueprints with knowledge of rigging procedures.\nAbility to work 12-hour rotating shifts.\nEducation and Training:\nValid driver’s license is required.\nEnrolled in welding technology program and in good academic standing.\nANALYSIS OF PHYSICAL DEMANDS FOR POSITION:\nOccasionally (0-1/3 of workday): Sitting, crawling and climbing (ladders, entering/exiting equipment); pinching 17 lbs. (tools); lifting and carrying 115 lbs. (dragline teeth, propane tanks); and pushing and pulling 171 lbs. (components).\nFrequently (1/3-2/3 of workday): Balancing, stooping/bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching overhead and at waist level, and fine finger dexterity (locating and repairing welds and handling tools); and speaking (communication).\nContinually (2/3-3/3 of workday): Gripping 80 lbs., handling objects, and repetitive motions (welding and tools); standing and walking; and hearing, near vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception (communication and hazard recognition). \nNOTE: This position requires ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Employees may be exposed to chemicals, dust, noise, and welding fumes and may be required to work at heights/elevated surfaces and on uneven terrain. Employees must be able to safely operate company vehicles/equipment as required.
