The selected candidate will contribute to cutting-edge software applications involving computational geometry, scientific computing, visualization, CAD technologies, and high-performance computing.\nThe internship is designed for PhD students interested in applying software engineering and research expertise to solve complex engineering challenges while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across Intel.\nBusiness Group\nThe Intel Foundry Technology Development (TD) organization is focused on driving semiconductor process innovation and enabling future technology nodes. Within the LTD-TD TCAD team, engineers and researchers develop advanced simulation, modeling, and software solutions used to accelerate technology development. The team fosters a collaborative environment where software, mathematics, physics, and engineering intersect to solve challenging technical problems.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign, develop, and optimize software solutions for engineering and research applications. \nParticipate in architecture design, feature development, prototyping, testing, and performance optimization. \nDevelop and enhance computational geometry algorithms and scientific software tools. \nCreate and improve 2D and 3D visualization capabilities using modern graphics technologies. \nDevelop numerical methods and simulation capabilities using finite element, level set, or related techniques. \nCollaborate with software engineers, researchers, and domain experts to deliver scalable and maintainable solutions. \nPerform software development, debugging, and performance analysis in Linux environments. \nDocument technical solutions and present findings to project stakeholders.\nQualifications:\nMinimum Qualifications\nCandidates must be currently pursuing a PhD in one of the following or related disciplines with a strong software focus: Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics or other closely related technical fields\nMinimum 3 months of educational, research, laboratory, internship, or industry experience.\nStrong academic performance with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred.\n3+ months of academic or professional experience in one or more of the following: \n- Python and/or C++ programming\n- Computational Geometry\n- Scientific Visualization\n- CAD Tool Development\n- Optimization Algorithms\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and software development skills.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in at least two of the following areas:\nComputational geometry algorithm design, analysis, and implementation (2D and 3D).\nComputer graphics and scientific visualization using OpenGL and/or ray tracing technologies.\nContribute to CAD and geometry processing workflows involving solid modeling and voxel-based representations.\nImplement and optimize mesh generation algorithms for engineering simulations.\n2D and 3D mesh generation algorithms, including: \n- Delaunay triangulation\n- Quad meshing\n- Hex meshing\nCAD geometry representation, solid modeling, and voxel processing.\nNumerical analysis techniques including: \n- Finite Element Methods (FEM)\n- Level Set Methods\n- Related computational modeling approaches\nParallel programming and high-performance computing.\nExperience developing scalable scientific or engineering software applications.\nUser Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) development for scientific or engineering software.\nExperience with Qt framework for desktop application development.\nImage processing and visualization techniques for scientific and engineering applications.\nJob Type:\nStudent / InternShift:\nShift 1 (United States of America)Primary Location:\nUS, Oregon, HillsboroAdditional Locations:\nPosting Statement:\nAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, religious creed, sex, national origin, ancestry, age, physical or mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, military and veteran status, marital status, pregnancy, gender, gender expression, gender identity, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by local law, regulation, or ordinance.Position of Trust\nN/ABenefits\nWe offer a total compensation package that ranks among the best in the industry.
