To achieve this, we are seeking an Engineering Director, Automated Material Handling Systems, to define, develop, and execute the roadmap for automated material handling systems (AMHS), factory automation, and autonomous logistics solutions across both greenfield and brownfield Assembly and Test factories.\nThe ideal leader has experience with fully automating high-tech manufacturing factories in Semiconductor Advanced Packaging. They can combine their operational experience in semiconductor manufacturing, large-scale factory transformation, and strong knowledge of emerging automation technologies. The successful candidate must be able to hit the ground running as the role involves strategic direction setting as well as driving execution.\nResponsibilities:\nCreate and execute a comprehensive automation strategy that drives productivity, scalability, safety, flexibility, and cost competitiveness across Intel’s global manufacturing footprint.\nServe as the senior program leader responsible for defining future-state factory architectures, aligning major capital investments, and leading complex factory conversion programs that modernize existing operations while enabling next-generation manufacturing capabilities.\nRapidly assess current factory operations, identify and prioritize near-term automation opportunities, implement practical solutions that generate measurable business value, and simultaneously build the long-term automation vision for Intel’s Assembly and Test manufacturing factories.\nDefine the Assembly & Test roadmap for automated material handling systems, autonomous logistics, robotics, digital manufacturing systems, and smart factory technologies.\nAlign automation strategies and capabilities with Intel’s manufacturing expansion plans, advanced packaging technologies, and future product requirements.\nManage a team of equipment engineers for the selection, development, deployment, and ramp of automated material handling systems in CATD and ATM Assembly/Test factories.\nRequired Skills & Experience:\nFactory modeling and simulation experience, including creation of Digital Twins and dynamic WIP simulations models\nWIP Transportation Hardware & Robotics: AMR (Autonomous Mobil Robots), OHT (Overhead Hoist Transport), Cobots for loading/unloading WIP, AGVs (Autonomous Guided Vehicles)\nMaterial/WIP Storage: Stockers and smart storage racks\nSmart Manufacturing Automation - scheduling for production material\nManufacturing Operations: driving efficient process flows, manning ratios, factory layout optimization\nAutomation System Infrastructure: MCS (Material Control Systems) that enable material tracking and dispatching, 3rd party systems integrated into OEM factory (WiFi, GPS, security certification)\nAI Integration and Tools leveraged in development for any of the areas above\nFactory and facilities requirements for enablement and integrated systems\nDemonstrated ability to successfully lead highly matrixed teams managing budgets, resources and timelines, as well as proven background in aligning program scope/funding with Sr Management.\nProven technical group management skills: team leadership, strategic planning, IC coaching, and career development of a technical team.\nStrong influencing, written and verbal communication skills\nFundamental understanding of advanced packaging devices, fabrication processes, and technology.\nStrong technical and analytical skills, with expertise in statistical design of experiments and problem-solving techniques.\nAbility to apply fundamental science and engineering concepts in development to create novel solutions.\nSelf-initiated, and the ability to work independently and to influence decisions across organizations.\nQualifications:\nDegree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related field\n10+ yrs of leading the deployment of factory automation and material handling systems in the semiconductor industry\nExperience deploying material transport and storage in advanced package assembly and test high volume manufacturing. \nTechnical team leadership and direct management experience required\nJob Type:\nExperienced HireShift:\nShift 1 (United States of America)Primary Location:\nUS, Arizona, PhoenixAdditional Locations:\nPosting Statement:\nAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, religious creed, sex, national origin, ancestry, age, physical or mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, military and veteran status, marital status, pregnancy, gender, gender expression, gender identity, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by local law, regulation, or ordinance.Position of Trust\nThis role is a Position of Trust.
