Management\nMaintain accurate inventory records for all returnable transportation assets across assigned stations and customers.\nTrack inventory levels of monotainers, gaylords, pallets, carts, totes, and other reusable equipment.\nMonitor asset balances and identify shortages, surpluses, and inventory discrepancies.\nConduct regular physical inventory counts, audits, and reconciliations.\nInvestigate and resolve inventory variances and missing asset incidents.\nMaintain asset tracking databases, reports, and dashboards.\nForecast asset requirements and communicate expected shortages or surpluses.\nAsset Recovery & Return Programs\nCoordinate all customer container return and recovery programs across the network.\nSchedule and arrange recovery of empty containers and equipment from stations and customer locations.\nMonitor return commitments and ensure customer service level agreements are achieved.\nIdentify aged inventory requiring recovery and develop action plans to return equipment promptly.\nTrack asset dwell times and implement initiatives to improve recovery performance.\nReduce replacement costs by minimizing lost, damaged, or stranded assets.\nTransportation & Recovery Planning\nWork closely with Dispatch, Linehaul, Operations, and Carriers to arrange asset transfers and returns.\nCreate and monitor transportation orders related to container repositioning and recovery activities.\nCoordinate station-to-station asset transfers to balance inventories across the network.\nMaximize trailer utilization by consolidating recovery freight into existing transportation movements whenever possible.\nTrack recovery loads and provide live updates to stakeholders.\nIdentify opportunities to reduce transportation costs associated with asset recovery and repositioning.\nDock & Yard Asset Management\nPerform regular dock, warehouse, and yard audits to verify asset inventories and locations.\nOperate forklifts and material handling equipment to move, stage, count, and inspect transportation assets.\nEnsure returnable assets are properly staged and prepared for pickup or delivery.\nCoordinate removal of excess inventory and stranded assets from stations.\nMaintain organized, safe, and efficient storage areas for transportation equipment.\nSupport station teams during peak periods by coordinating container availability and recovery activities.\nCustomer & Stakeholder Management\nAct as the primary point of contact for customer container programs.\nRespond to customer inquiries regarding inventory levels, returns, shortages, and recovery plans.\nProvide regular inventory and recovery reporting to customers and internal stakeholders.\nCommunicate delays, shortages, inventory concerns, and operational issues in a timely manner.\nBuild strong working relationships with customer contacts, station leadership, and transportation providers.\nEscalate issues that may impact customer commitments or operational performance.\nReporting & Analytics\nProduce weekly and monthly reports related to asset inventory, utilization, and recovery performance.\nAnalyze trends and recommend process improvements.\nSupport continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing costs and improving asset visibility.\nContinuous Improvement\nIdentify opportunities to improve container recovery processes and asset utilization.\nSupport the rollout of new customer container programs.\nDevelop and maintain asset management procedures and best practices.\nParticipate in transportation, linehaul, and operational improvement projects.\nSupport network initiatives aimed at reducing equipment loss and increasing transportation efficiency.\nQualifications\nEducation & Experience\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required.\nPost-secondary education in Supply Chain, Logistics, Transportation, Operations, or Business is considered an asset.\nMinimum 2 years of experience in transportation, logistics, warehouse operations, yard management, inventory control, or asset management.\nExperience working in a fast-paced transportation, parcel, distribution, or logistics environment.\nExperience managing returnable assets, pallets, containers, or equipment recovery programs is considered an asset.\nRequired Skills & Knowledge\nValid forklift certification.\nDemonstrated experience operating forklifts and material handling equipment safely and efficiently.\nStrong understanding of dock operations, freight handling, transportation, and warehouse safety practices.\nStrong inventory management and organizational skills.\nExcellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.\nExperience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), or inventory tracking systems is considered an asset.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nAbility to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced operational environment.\nAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively across multiple departments.\nCore
