This role balances hands-on technical execution with high-level architectural design, leading engineering teams to build resilient, event-driven microservices that translate complex business needs into production-ready software solutions.\nKey Responsibilities\nSystem Architecture & Design\nDefine and own the end-to-end architecture for scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems using microservices and event-driven architectures.\nDefine High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD) specifications, data models, and service boundaries.\nEnsure all systems are designed with an API-first approach, applying SOLID principles and clean architecture practices.\nEvaluate and manage system trade-offs between speed, cost, performance, availability, and security.\nTechnical Leadership & Delivery\nLead a team of engineers and drive the end-to-end software development lifecycle (SDLC) from discovery to production deployment.\nCollaborate closely with product, QA, and DevOps teams for seamless execution and timely delivery.\nTake complete ownership of engineering deliverables and unblock team members to ensure alignment with project milestones.\nBackend Development & Cloud Engineering\nDesign and develop robust RESTful and GraphQL APIs using Python frameworks (FastAPI, Django, Flask).\nWork extensively with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL systems (MongoDB, Redis).\nDevelop and deploy cloud-native applications on AWS or Azure using serverless compute (AWS Lambda) and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes / EKS).\nQuality, Observability & Governance\nConduct thorough code reviews, enforce strict coding standards, and actively reduce technical debt.\nImplement end-to-end observability, including logging, monitoring, metrics, and alerting frameworks (Datadog, Prometheus).\nEnsure non-functional requirements—performance, security, fault tolerance, and low latency—are built into every solution.\nCommunication & Mentorship\nMentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers to foster continuous technical growth.\nConduct and present technical demos, architecture reviews, and solution walkthroughs to executive stakeholders.\nCreate and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, architecture decision records (ADRs), and developer guides.\nRequired Qualifications\nExperience: 8–12 years in software engineering with a strong background in backend delivery and system design.\nPython Mastery: Deep knowledge of core Python (decorators, generators, async programming, AsyncIO, and concurrency).\nAPI & Backend Frameworks: Proven hands-on track record building enterprise APIs using FastAPI, Django, or Flask.\nMicroservices & System Design: Strong experience with microservices architecture, event-driven systems, and messaging queues (Kafka, SQS, RabbitMQ).\nCloud & Containers: Hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure services (Lambda, EKS, ECS), containerization (Docker), and CI/CD automation pipelines.\nDatabases: Practical experience with PostgreSQL and NoSQL database query optimization.\nSoft Skills: Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a proven ability to own and drive projects independently.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience designing and consuming GraphQL APIs.\nExposure to observability and monitoring suites (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana).\nPractical exposure to AI/ML integrations, Generative AI workflows, or LLM-based microservices.\nKnowledge of multi-cloud architectures and hybrid enterprise setups.\nTech Stack (Indicative)\nArea\nTechnologies\nLanguages & Frameworks\nCore Python, FastAPI, Django, Flask, Node.js (Optional)\nAPI Architecture\nRESTful APIs, GraphQL, OpenAPI, WebSockets\nCloud & Containers\nAWS (Lambda, EKS, ECS, S3, RDS), Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm\nMessaging & Events\nApache Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS SQS, EventBridge\nDatabases\nPostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis\nDevOps & CI/CD\nJenkins, GitHub Actions, Terraform, Azure DevOps\nObservability\nDatadog, Prometheus, Grafana, AWS CloudWatch\nWhat You'll Influence\nThe overall microservices architecture and technical strategy of the organization.\nBuild vs. buy decisions for cloud services and developer tooling.\nEngineering culture around clean code practices, automated testing, and cloud-native system design.\nTechnical mentorship and hiring standards for backend and platform engineering teams.\nWe are an equal opportunity employer.
