We’re passionate about coffee, and that means we pay a bit more for coffee in order to buy direct and create long-term, collaborative relationships with our producers that grow exceptional coffee.\nIntelligentsia seeks an experienced, growth-oriented Sr. Ecommerce Manager to own and elevate the day-to-day performance, customer experience, and digital sales strategy of intelligentsiacoffee.com.\nYou will translate our passion for Extraordinary Coffee - from Direct Trade sourcing to seasonal harvests and limited micro-lot releases - into engaging online experiences that drive traffic, conversion, and subscriber retention. Working cross-functionally with our coffee sourcing, roasting, marketing, and fulfillment teams, you will optimize our DTC online storefront, scale our coffee subscription programs, and champion our commitment to quality across every digital touchpoint.\nLocation: Hybrid. Must live in the Chicagoland area with ability to travel to the Roasting Works in Bedford Park, IL 1 to 2 days per week.\nKey Responsibilities:\nEcommerce Operations & Growth Strategy\nOwn and manage the day-to-day performance of intelligentsiacoffee.com, driving key sales, traffic, and conversion metrics.\n\nDevelop and execute the overall ecommerce growth strategy, including digital merchandising, site promotional calendars, and the scaling of our coffee subscription programs.\n\nCollaborate with the Coffee team to align on specialty coffee release schedules, seasonal offerings, and unified omni-channel sales strategies.\n\nSite Management & User Experience (UX)\nManage the end-to-end digital site experience, serving as the main point of contact for external technology vendors and internal design/development teams for feature updates, redesigns, and site maintenance.\n\nManage and maintain the secondary Wholesale website content updates and optimizations\n\nSupport with retail App configurations, data reporting, updates, promotions, loyalty programs and user experience\n\nDrive Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) through continuous site updates, continuous UX improvements, and structured A/B testing protocols.\n\nManage relationships with ecommerce platform and technology vendors.\n\nCross-Functional Marketing & Analytics\nPartner closely with marketing teams on email campaigns, paid media, and content initiatives to acquire new customers and drive qualified site traffic.\n\nAnalyze site, campaign, and customer data to uncover optimization opportunities and deliver clear performance reporting to stakeholders.\n\nLeverage analytics to inform merchandising decisions, inventory needs, and subscription retention strategies.\n\nOperations, Leadership & Vendor Management\nOversee site inventory visibility and coordinate directly with fulfillment and operations teams to ensure accurate stock levels and smooth logistics execution.\n\nDirect and manage external ecommerce platform platforms and technology vendor relationships to maintain site performance and tool integration.\n\nMentor, manage, and support the professional development of team members as needed.\n\nQualifications & Requirements\n5+ years of dedicated ecommerce management experience, with a strong background in Direct-to-Consumer (DTC), CPG, or the Food & Beverage space.\n\nHighly analytical with deep hands-on expertise in ecommerce platforms (Shopify/Shopify Plus).\n\nStrong data literacy and web analytics skills (Google Analytics/GA4, dashboards, heat maps, etc.) with the ability to turn data into actionable business decisions.\n\nProven track record with A/B testing methodologies, conversion rate optimization (CRO), subscription program management, and digital product merchandising.\n\nExcellent project management capabilities, strong cross-functional collaboration skills, and experience managing or mentoring team members.\n\nA strong passion for coffee and alignment with Intelligentsia’s commitment to quality, sourcing, and brand values is highly preferred.\n\nPreferred Experience\nDirect experience running recurring subscription models (e.g., Recharge, Skio, Ordergroove).\n\nBackground managing specialized CPG, beverage, or perishable product launches.\n\nStaying ahead of emerging digital trends, new ecommerce apps, changing consumer behavior, and search algorithm updates.\n\nWork Environment / Physical Requirements\nRegularly required to see, talk, and hear\n\nFrequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, or crouch\n\nOffice and warehouse environments; not climate-controlled\n\nNoise level is generally moderate\n\nFine hand manipulation (keyboard use)\n\nMay occasionally require more than 40 hours per week to fulfill essential duties\n\nBenefits\nMedical, dental and vision insurance\n\nCompany-paid long & short-term disability and life insurance\n\nPaid vacation and sick time\n\n401(k) eligible after 90 days of employment and a company match after one year\n\n8 Paid holidays per year\n\nCommuter benefits\n\nFree bag of coffee each week with a discount on other items\n\nEmployee Assistance Program\n\nCompensation\nTo counter pay inequality and uphold internal parity, we are publicizing salary information for this role.
