Backend Engineer (Mid / Senior)

We're hiring two Backend Engineers: one Mid-level and one Senior.

About the company
Your contract will be signed with Inter-Team, part of MEKO. MEKO is the market leader in the independent automotive aftermarket in Northern Europe, operating in eight countries with approximately 670 branches and around 4,500 workshops affiliated with its brands. These include Mekonomen, MECA, BilXtra, FTZ, Fixus,INTER-TEAM, and Sørensen og Balchen, among others.

About the role
You'll join a cross-functional product team working on a modern platform built with TypeScript.
We're looking for backend engineers who understand software architecture, enjoy solving complex problems, and are comfortable using AI tools in their daily work.
We value engineers who think beyond individual tasks, understand business needs, and actively participate in technical discussions before jumping into implementation.
AI-assisted development is a natural part of our workflow, but engineers remain responsible for technical decisions, implementation, and code quality.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services, APIs, and integrations.

• Translate business requirements into well-defined technical solutions, including clarifying requirements, identifying edge cases, and breaking down complex tasks.

• Participate in system design and architecture discussions, evaluating different approaches and trade-offs.

• Work with distributed systems and event-driven architectures.

• Use AI coding tools and agents to support development, while critically reviewing and validating their output.

• Write maintainable, well-tested code and participate in code reviews.

• Collaborate with developers, designers, and product stakeholders.

What we're looking for

• Solid backend development experience with TypeScript and Node.js (both required).

•  Good understanding of API design, databases, and software engineering principles.

• Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into practical technical solutions.

• Experience with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot, etc.).

• A quality-focused mindset, including automated testing, code reviews, and maintainability.

• Good English communication skills and the ability to work independently in a distributed team.

Senior position
Strong system design and architecture experience, particularly with distributed and event-driven systems. You should be comfortable leading technical discussions, evaluating trade-offs, making architectural decisions, and mentoring other developers.
Mid-level position
Solid engineering fundamentals, the ability to deliver tasks independently, and a good understanding of common architectural patterns. You should be comfortable participating in technical discussions and eager to develop your system design skills.

• Infrastructure: Azure, Kubernetes (AKS), Docker, Terraform, CI/CD

• AI Tooling: Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Hermes

• AI Engineering Practices: AI Coding Agents, Agentic Workflows, Context Engineering, Prompt Engineering, MCP, Agent Skills & Rules, AI-Assisted Code Review.

You don't need experience with every technology listed above. Strong fundamentals and the ability to learn matter more.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with frontend development, particularly React, TypeScript, and Next.js.

• Experience with microservices, event-driven architecture, or GraphQL Federation.

• Experience with cloud infrastructure and infrastructure as code.

• Experience building or configuring AI agents, MCP integrations, or automated development workflows.

• Experience working in cross-functional product teams.
