refining the experience for our clients.\n What will be your responsibilities within IBKR: \nDesign, develop, and maintain features across the trading application and Web API platform, with a primary focus on the Java business and service layers.\nBuild backend services and clients that expose internal services, integrating with systems over REST, WebSockets, and FIX to deliver responsive, reliable functionality.\nParticipate in the full software development lifecycle, including design, implementation, unit and integration testing, code review, and ongoing maintenance of delivered features.\nWrite and maintain clear technical documentation, including documentation for new interfaces, and regression tests to ensure platform stability.\nCollaborate with business analysts, product managers, and other developers to translate requirements into high-quality, well-architected software.\nInvestigate and resolve complex technical issues across the stack, providing escalated (third-level) support as needed.\nStay current with relevant tools, libraries, frameworks, and techniques—including modern AI-assisted development tools—that can improve platform quality and delivery speed.\nSkills Required\nMaster's degree in Computer Science or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of professional software development experience, or a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience.\nStrong proficiency in Java, with a deep understanding of object-oriented programming and software design patterns.\nProven experience with Java frameworks such as Spring and/or Vert.x.\nStrong command of RESTful web service design and implementation, along with experience in WebSockets and real-time communication in a Java-based environment.\nSolid software development fundamentals, including writing clean, maintainable, well-tested code and producing clear technical documentation.\nExperience with JUnit or other testing frameworks for unit and integration testing.\nWorking knowledge of multithreading and concurrency, with an appreciation for lean, low-latency programming.\nProficiency with Git for source control and collaborative development.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues across a large, established codebase.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\n To be successful in this position, you will have the following:\nExperienced with declarative, state-driven UI frameworks (React Native, Flutter, QML, etc.) is a plus; genuine interest in learning is equally valued.\nFamiliar with financial trading platforms and instruments such as stocks, futures, and options, or possess a strong interest in learning the domain.\nExposed to Linux as a development or deployment environment.\nWorking familiarity with Gradle as a build automation tool.\nFamiliar with cloud technologies (e.g., AWS) as a plus.\nAware of AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code and other agentic coding tools.\nExperienced with agile development methodologies as a plus.\nComfortable working within an established codebase, following existing architectural patterns, team conventions, and development protocols.\nAble to ramp up quickly on a mature platform and deliver incremental value while respecting existing design decisions.\nFlexible and pragmatic, with the judgment to know when to follow precedent and when to raise a well-reasoned alternative.\nSelf-motivated with a high-ownership mindset, able to take
