This role manages material flow, maintains organized staging areas, and coordinates yard activities to minimize congestion, delays, and unnecessary movement.\nThe Yard Supervisor directs and coordinates yard employees and equipment operators, assigning work based on daily priorities and workload. The position oversees the safe and efficient use of forklifts, loaders, trucks, trailers, and other mobile equipment while monitoring yard conditions, equipment needs, and material locations.\nThe Yard Supervisor maintains a safe, clean, and organized work environment by enforcing safety procedures, equipment operating standards, traffic controls, and housekeeping expectations. The role works closely with management and other departments to resolve operational issues, prevent bottlenecks, improve workflow, and maintain efficient material movement throughout the yard.\nInterco provides comprehensive training on the equipment, processes, and procedures specific to the operation. The company is seeking an experienced supervisor who can lead and develop people, organize the work, solve problems, learn the operation, and take ownership of the yard.\n Responsibilities:\nResponsible for daily operation and organization of the assigned yard.\nManage material flow, staging, loading, unloading, and movement throughout the yard.\nAssign and coordinate employees and equipment to meet daily operational and throughput objectives.\nDirect the safe and efficient use of forklifts, excavators, loaders, trucks, trailers, and other yard equipment.\nMaintain organized material locations, staging areas, equipment areas, and clear traffic and pedestrian paths.\nMonitor yard conditions and equipment for safety hazards, damage, maintenance needs, and operational issues.\nGuide, train, communicate expectations, and evaluate yard employees and equipment operators.\nMaintain a clean, safe, and organized outdoor work environment and enforce company safety policies and procedures.\nCoordinate daily yard activities with management and other departments to prevent bottlenecks and maintain material flow.\nIdentify and recommend improvements to yard layout, equipment utilization, workflow, safety, and productivity.\nConstant management of trailer/container movement and loading priorities.\nSkills:\nAbility to read, understand, and speak English. \nStrong organizational and leadership skills \nEffective communication and interpersonal skills \nSelf-motivated and eager to learn. \nMath skills include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages. \nAbility to recognize and solve problems. \nBasic computer skills. \nProficiency with MS Outlook, Word, and Excel a plus. \nAbility to read, understand, and speak Spanish is a plus. \nQualifications\nHigh School diploma or GED. \nMinimum 3 years’ experience in a scrap metal, recycling, manufacturing, and/or warehousing environment. \nMinimum 2 years’ experience working in a supervisory, lead, or similar position. \nExperience in non-ferrous scrap metal industry related to grading and alloy identification is a plus. \nExperience with Lean Manufacturing concepts is a plus. \nAbility to talk and hear \nVisual abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. \nAbility to frequently stand, walk, reach, use hands and fingers. \nAbility to occasionally sit, kneel, stoop, and climb. \nAbility to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally. \n Compensation:\n$60,000-$70,000 Salary Annually\n100% Company-paid Medical, Dental, Vision \n100% Company-paid Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability \nCompany paid $25K life insurance policy \nAccelerated paid Vacation time \n401(k) with generous company match after one year \nAnnual performance review and bonus \nAs a matter of company policy, Interco does not sponsor employment visas or hire from out of the USA nor does the company sponsor candidates who do not currently reside within the USA without an existing H-1B visa.\nThis job description is designed to provide a general overview of the requirements of the job and does not entail a comprehensive listing of all activities, duties or responsibilities that will be required.
