The experience will not be limited to technology - this is also an opportunity to get a good understanding of the operation of a global organization, how global teams interact, how projects are developed, solutions implemented, and how strategies are executed.\nThis role will have you joining our Infrastructure Development & Automation team where you will be working on our in-house automation platforms, advanced infrastructure monitoring tooling, and other internal development projects within the Infrastructure/Operations vertical. You will be exposed to all layers of these tools as well as learning the enterprise Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) processes at ICE. In time you will help support other teams’ use of these tools and develop new features or improve existing ones.\nResponsibilities\nWrite and maintain software that interacts with various server platforms, storage solutions, network devices, tools, databases, and user input\nGather requirements from relevant business owners\nCreate wireframes or diagrams to explain solutions\nKeep project stakeholders updated on progress\nHelp ensure an orderly release management and SDLC process is followed\nMeet with technologists from other teams to ensure all new software appropriately captures the requirements, uses the best data sources, and does so in a secure manner\nCreate and maintain documentation of system components and their operation\nWrite unit and integration tests that ensure system reliability\nHelp train end-users on the use of any new tooling\nMaintain and improve tools and sub-components, growing toward ownership over time\nKnowledge and Experience\nComputer Science (or related field) degree completed or in-progress, or the ability to demonstrate equivalent experience\nNovice-level software development skills with, or willingness to learn, at least one programming language (Python, TypeScript, Go (golang), or C++ preferred), including: understanding of first-order syntax and vernacular (conditionals, built-ins), writing simple functions and functional-style scripts, and an understanding of what objects are\nGood written and oral communication skills and the ability to work with others on both an ad hoc and project team basis, across organizational boundaries\nSelf-organizing, with a willingness to work through assigned tasks and ask for help when needed\nPreferred Knowledge and Experience\nDevelopment ability in Python, TypeScript, Go (golang), or C++\nFamiliarity with GNU/Linux operating systems\nFamiliarity with a DVCS (e.g. git)\nExposure to relational database systems (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite)\nExposure to RPC or RESTful APIs\nAbility to work with JSON, XML, YAML, and proprietary data interchange formats\nFamiliarity with development dependency management tools (e.g. npm, pip, maven, etc)\nFamiliarity with unit and integration testing\nExposure to web/application frameworks (e.g. Flask, FastAPI, Angular)\nA self-driven approach to learning, with comfort asking for help and the ability to self-investigate issues before escalating\nIllinois Base Salary Range\nThe expected base salary for this role, if located in Illinois, is between $75,000 - $90,000 USD. The base salary range does not include Intercontinental Exchange’s incentive compensation. While we provide this range as general guidance, at ICE we compensate employees based on the skillset and experience of the individual.
