You will set technical direction, ensure high-quality, on-time delivery, build a collaborative culture, and develop team members.\nResponsibilities\nLeadership & People ManagementLead and manage a team of software engineers, including performance reviews, 1:1s, and career development plans.\nBuild a culture of technical excellence, continuous improvement, accountability, and ownership.\nRecruit, onboard, and retain top engineering talent.\nAct as the technical escalation point for the team and stakeholders; guide complex technical challenges and architecture decisions.\n\nTechnical Strategy & DeliveryOwn the software development lifecycle (SDLC) from planning and design through deployment and maintenance.\nPartner with Product Management to define roadmaps, translate requirements into technical specifications, and manage scope.\nDeliver features and products on time and with high quality by managing capacity, resourcing, and deadlines.\nLead architectural discussions and ensure best practices for coding standards, security, and scalability.\n\nOperational ExcellenceImplement and refine agile methods (Scrum/Kanban) and DevOps practices to improve productivity and delivery velocity.\nMonitor and maintain production systems to ensure reliability, performance, and uptime.\nManage technical debt and advocate for infrastructure and tooling improvements.\n\nKnowledge and Experience\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.\n7+ years of professional software development experience.\n3+ years of direct people management experience leading software engineers.\nTechnical Skills:Strong Java SE knowledge, Spring and object-oriented design fundamentals.\nData engineering experience with SQL, data pipelines, and distributed platforms (Airflow, dbt, Kafka, Kubernetes); Python preferred.\nExperience with relational databases and columnar data stores.\nExperience using AI tools (e.g., Claude) to improve development productivity while maintaining rigorous quality standards.\nModern engineering practices including CI/CD, unit testing, and automated deployments.\nDistributed caching (e.g., Redis).\n\nLeadership & Soft Skills:Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills; able to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.\nProven ability to motivate and build high-performing, self-organizing teams.\nStrong project management and organizational skills, with a track record of shipping major features or products.\n\nPreferred Knowledge and Experience\nCapital markets or fintech experience preferred.\nDomain knowledge in fixed income, equity, listed derivatives, and/or OTC derivatives.\nIntercontinental Exchange, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
