As part of our Kubernetes Development team, the Senior Developer will work hand-in-hand with development teams to onboard their applications and empower them to seamlessly adopt the internal Kubernetes Platform. This role blends technical expertise with a passion for developer productivity, providing both strategic guidance and hands-on support for teams as they modernize their applications in a container-first environment.\nA successful candidate will be an advocate for container platform technologies with a deep understanding of Kubernetes and containerization in an on-premises environment. This individual will collaborate across engineering, development, and operations teams to ensure that our platform and tools help developers thrive.\nResponsibilities\nAssist development teams in onboarding their applications to the on-prem Kubernetes Platform in a standard, streamlined manner.\nPartner with Development, Kubernetes Platform Engineering, Operations, and other teams to build and continuously improve solutions that meet developer needs and drive platform adoption.\nAdvocate for and influence container platform best practices, ensuring that development teams understand how to optimize their applications for containerization, scalability, and resiliency.\nCollaborate with Release Engineering to promote and implement GitOps practices across development and operations teams, ensuring streamlined CI/CD workflows, enhanced automation, and improved infrastructure management through version-controlled deployments.\nProvide support and troubleshooting for development teams, addressing issues related to containerized applications, platform configurations and connectivity, and Kubernetes deployments.\nCreate and provide practical examples of documentation, best practices, and onboarding materials to guide teams in adopting Kubernetes and cloud-native capabilities. Conduct training sessions and workshops to equip developers with the knowledge and tools they need for success.\nGather feedback from development teams to identify areas for improvement and iterate on the onboarding process, tooling, and support offerings to drive continuous improvement and simplification in the developer experience.\nKnowledge and Experience\n5+ years of experience in software development with hands-on expertise in on-premises container platform technologies (not cloud hosted Kubernetes).\nExpertise with one or more of Kubernetes, OpenShift, Tanzu/VKS, Docker and/or Podman.\nExperience with Kubernetes observability tools for metrics, monitoring, logging, alerting, and tracing.\nPractical knowledge of CI/CD processes and tools (GitHub Actions, etc.) and a strong understanding of DevOps principles.\nProficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Go, Python, Java, Node.js) and experience with shell scripting for automation.\nDemonstrated ability to troubleshoot and provide support for containerized applications in Kubernetes environments.\nPreferred Knowledge and Experience\nBS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.\nExperience with GitOps tools such as ArgoCD.\nFamiliarity with security best practices for containers, including image scanning, and Kubernetes role-based access control (RBAC).\nFamiliarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Ansible.\nFamiliarity with OpenShift Operators, CNCF projects, and Helm charts for Kubernetes-based application management.\nWorking knowledge of Claude, Copilot, or other AI tooling for workflow augmentation.\nIntercontinental Exchange, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
