These include, but not limited to, the following:\n· HVAC Design\n· Fire protection\n· Wet Services.\nOur Client requires its engineers to design but to proactively participate in the scoping and integration of projects, and to ensure that projects meet clients expectations in terms of cost and quality. The position therefore requires an experienced individual that understands all aspects of the built environment and can work independently on projects with minimum oversight.\nDuties and Responsibilities:\nTo fulfil the role of Mechanical Engineer by managing project activities to deliver specified scope within fee budget, to an acceptable quality and on time. Consulting Mechanical Engineers liaise with clients to plan, manage, design, construction and supervise projects. They work in a number of different settings and, with experience, can run projects as a Project Manager.\nInception\nAssist in developing a clear project brief.\nAttend project initiation meetings.\nAdvise on procurement policy for the project.\nAdvise on the rights, constraints, consents and approvals.\nDefine the scope of services and scope of work required.\nConclude the terms of the agreement with the client.\nInspect the site and advise on the necessary surveys, analyses, tests and site or other investigations where such information will be required, including the availability and location of infrastructure and services.\nDetermine the availability of data, drawings and plans relating to the project.\nAdvise on criteria that could influence the project life cycle cost significantly.\nProvide necessary information within the agreed scope of the project to other consultants involved.\nConcept and viability\nAgree documentation programme with principal consultant and other consultants involved.\nAttend design and consultants' meetings.\nEstablish the concept design criteria.\nPrepare initial concept design and related documentation.\nAdvise the client regarding further surveys, analyses, tests and investigations which may be required.\nEstablish regulatory authorities' requirements and incorporate into the design.\nRefine and assess the concept design to ensure conformance with all regulatory requirements and consents.\nEstablish access, utilities, services and connections required for the design.\nCoordinate design interfaces with other consultants involved.\nPrepare preliminary process designs, preliminary designs, and related documentation for approval by authorities and client and suitable for costing.\nProvide cost estimates and comment on life cycle costs as required.\nLiaise, co-operate and provide necessary information to the client, principal consultant and other consultants involved.\nDesign Development\nReview documentation programme with principal consultant and other consultants involved.\nIncorporate clients and authorities detailed requirements into the design.\nPrepare design development drawings including draft technical details and specifications\nReview and evaluate design and outline specification and exercise cost control.\nPrepare detailed estimates of construction cost.\nLiaise, co-operate and provide necessary information to the principal consultant and other consultants involved.\nSubmit the necessary design documentation to local and other authorities for approval.\nDocumentation and Procurement\nPrepare specifications and preambles for the works.\nAccommodate services design.\nCheck cost estimates and adjust designs and documents if necessary to remain within budget.\nFormulate the procurement strategy for contractors or assist the principal consultant where relevant.\nPrepare documentation for contractor procurement.\nReview designs, drawings and schedules for compliance with approved budget.\nCalling for tenders and/or negotiation of prices and/or assist the principal consultant where relevant.\nLiaise, co-operate and provide necessary information to the principal consultant and the other consultants as required.\nEvaluation of tenders.\nPreparation of contract documentation for signature\nAssist in pricing, documentation and tender evaluation as required when the detailed services for these activities are provided by others.\nAssess samples and products for compliance and design intent.\nAdministration and Inspection\nIssue construction documentation in accordance with the documentation schedule including, in the case of structural engineering, reinforcing bending schedules and detailing and specifications of structural steel sections and connections.\nCarry out contract administration procedures in terms of the contract.\nPrepare schedules of predicted cash flow.\nPrepare pro-active estimates of proposed variations for client decision making.\nAttend regular site, technical and progress meetings.\nInspect works for conformity to contract documentation.\nAdjudicate and resolve financial claims by contractor(s).\nAssist in the resolution of contractual claims by the contractor.\nSkills:\nA working knowledge of typical construction contracts (JBCC, FIDIC, NEC, GCC)\nMS Office literacy\nThorough understanding of the project life cycle\nGood understanding of building construction projects\nGood communication skills\nAbility to manage multiple projects\nAbility to lead a team\nAble to conduct themselves in a professional manner when dealing with clients and other stakeholders\nAutodesk Revit proficient\nHAP\nLoadest.\nExperience Required\nThe successful applicants should have:\nExperience in Government Contracts;\nExperience in Schools, Clinics, Hospitals, Renovation and Upgrade projects, Transport Taxi Ranks, Libraries, Shopping Centres, Office blocks and Housing developments;\nProjects between R50milj R1Bilj;\n3+ to 5+ years (Post registration not particularly necessary).\nQualification\nB.Eng. / BSc Mechanical
