This will be accomplished through the use of process improvement methodologies utilizing DMAIC, DOE, FMEA, Process Mapping, 6S, etc. This includes, but is not limited to, examining equipment, processes, and operations, then making improvements through the definition, development, documentation, training and implementation of the process. Candidates should enjoy both hands-on and theoretical engineering approaches.\nEducational requirements:\nBS in Engineering and over 2 years Process, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering experience\nSkills and experience:\nProfessional attitude and work ethic, and a self-starter with a desire to achieve results\nExcellent communication skills, verbal and written, from floor level through the management level\nProven team leadership skills and the ability to influence others at all levels of the organization\nKnowledgeable of process engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, and material properties\nCapable of process documentation such as manufacturing routings, task descriptions, work center definitions\nExperience with project costing, bid package preparation and execution (desirable)\nExperience leading cross-functional problem-solving teams with demonstrated success\nThorough understanding and demonstrated working knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean tools and techniques (DMAIC, DOE, FMEA, SPC, Process Mapping, etc.)\nAbility to design and conduct experiments, as well as analyze and interpret data\nExperience with statistical software such as Minitab or SPC for Excel, flowcharting and process mapping software; the ability to train others in use\nStrong time and project management skills\nExperience working with customers to understand performance and end-use requirements, determining critical process characteristics, variables, and measurement systems that determine and measure conformance to requirements\nFamiliar with design of machinery fundamentals\nEssential duties:\nLearn and retain a working knowledge of company initiatives, processes, laboratory testing and quality control procedures, as necessary to meet company needs\nWork with operators to learn the capabilities and limitations of our processes and identify opportunities for improvements in efficiency, work procedures, quality, and safety\nEvaluate all processes to identify opportunities to improve product uniformity, eliminate non-value-added functions, optimize process efficiency, and evaluate process for yield and safety improvement opportunities\nPartner with manufacturing to develop, maintain, implement, and monitor operational procedures and standards\nWork to reduce off-quality by analyzing quality data to determine root cause\nPerform cost analysis, time studies, frequency checks, and material usage analysis\nCollaborate with Engineering to plan and execute all aspects of a project or technology initiative, including basic data collection, engineering evaluation, scope of work development, cost estimations and financial analysis\nDevelop project charters and lead process improvement and cost reduction teams utilizing process improvement tools and techniques\nAnalyze, develop, coordinate, implement and interpret the results of projects and trials related to continuous improvement and techniques\nProvide regular updates on project status\nMaintain accurate, legible, and well-organized records of all projects, trials and necessary support data in manufacturing and related support areas\nMaintain Process Specifications\nPerform Process Audits\nCoordinate functional experts in contacting outside vendors concerning raw materials, supplies, machinery or equipment as necessary to meet company needs\nTravel to locations outside the company to conduct and/or assist in continuous improvement activities, trials or training, as necessary to meet company needs\nMonitor compliance with OSHA regulations, ISO 9001 & 14001 policies\nComply with safety regulations\nMaintain and promote good housekeeping\nComply with environmental regulations\nBe aware of departmental Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)\nPerform other duties as assigned\nPhysical demands:\nLong periods of standing on concrete during data collection\nDaily climbing of ladders or stairs\nExtensive walking\nWork environment:\nOffice environment\nNon-climate controlled manufacturing environment.\nBachelor of Science - Engineering MechanicsLearn more about Interface (NASDAQ: TILE) and our brands at interface.com and FLOR.com.
