Resolves pre- certification, registration and case-related concerns prior to a patient's appointment. Verifies insurance coverage or lack thereof for patient. Obtains authorizations if needed from insurance coverage. \nGathers pertinent information from insurance carriers, financial counselors, and other ancillary staff to make certain the patient's financial obligations for services provided. \nCompletes referral paperwork, including copies, and fax to medical office. \nContacts patient regarding referral information and give name, location, telephone number of specialist. \nReturns referral to physician for signature of completion. \nActs as a liaison between hospitals, physicians, health plans, vendors, and patients, or other referral sources. \nCovers PSR position as needed. \nPromotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides by service behavior standards. \nPerforms other duties as assigned.\nMinimum Qualifications\nHigh school diploma or equivalent is required\nOne (1) year front office or revenue cycle experience in a health care organization is required\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience processing insurance authorizations\nDemonstrated ability to work independently\nDemonstrated problem-solving skills\nPhysical Requirements\nOngoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.\nFrequent interactions with customers that require employee to communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.\nManual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use.\nExpected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment. Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment.
