This position functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and directly reports to Surgical Services management. It is expected that the Surgical Technologist, will support system wide and surgical operations initiatives and practices. In addition, this person will actively participate in the surgical operations safety plan as outlined.Schedule and Shift\nThis position is full time at 40 hours per week. Variable shifts, Monday-Friday. Call is required. More details will be discussed during the interview with the hiring team.\nEssential Functions\nThe Surgical Technologist has accountability for ensuring the operating room and all surgical items meet sterilization criteria.\nMaintains the sterile field and a safe environment.\nRecognizes and addresses sharps and fire safety processes.\nPrepares the operating room and instruments for the surgical procedure.\nMay assist with sterile processing.\nWill assist the surgeon(s) during the procedure but stays within the ORT scope of practice.\nIdentifies emergency situations and exercise judgement when implementing procedures to respond to emergencies. \nOn completion of the procedure, the tech will assist with room turnover, cleaning, and prepare for the next procedure.\nHas a pathway opportunity identified for advancement to ORT II, III and IV.\nSkills\nSurgeries\nLife Support\nSterile Processing\nSterile Field\nSterility\nSurgical Services\nEmergency Situations\nSterilization\nSupervision\nPosting Specifics\nLevel I Pay Range: $26.74 - $41.28\nLevel II Pay Range: $29.43 - $45.39\nLevel III Pay Range: $32.34 - $49.94\nBenefits Eligible: Yes\nShift Details: Full Time - 40 hours per week\nDepartment: Operating Room - Park City Hospital\nShift Details: Variable Shifts\nThis position could be filled as a Surgical Tech II or Surgical Tech III depending on experience and qualifications.\nMinimum Qualifications (Level I)\nBasic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.\nCompletion of an accredited Operating Room Technician (ORT) program, or:Graduated from a non-accredited surgical tech program within the past six months (not eligible for Tech in Surgery exam), or\nTwo years of scrub tech experience in hospital/military surgical services within the last three years, or\nInternational training equivalent and legally authorized to work in the U.S.\n\nCompetent in basic procedures or one or more specialty areas/facility case mix.\nAble to take assigned call.\nIn addition to meeting Level I requirements, to qualify for a Level II/III role, you must also meet the following requirements:\nMinimum Qualifications (Level II)\nBasic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.\nCompetent in Basic Procedures or 1 or more specialty areas and/or facility case mix\nAble to take assigned call\nMust be in good standing.\nMinimum Qualifications (Level III)\nBasic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.\nCompetent in Basic Procedures and 2 or more specialty areas such as (Ortho, Robotics, Neuro, CV, Trauma, Transplant, Reimplants) and/or facility case mix.\nAble to take assigned call\nMust be in good standing\nPrior approval from the Surgical Services Director Council must be obtained before caregivers are moved into this role.\nPreferred Qualifications\nSurgical Technologist with 1+ years of experience.\nSurgical Technologist with proficiency scrubbing into Ortho, Robotics, General Surgery, GYN, ENT, and Urology cases.\nActive National Certification as an OR Tech in Surgery or Certified Surgical Technologist. Certification is expected within the timeframe outlined below.\nCertification is required after hire as follows:Surgical Technologists who graduated from an accredited program must certify within one year of hire (may use either NBSTSA or NCCT certification).\nSurgical Technologists who have graduated from non-accredited programs or completed on-the-job or military training, need to certify as soon as possible. This can be done upon graduation or, according to the NCCT requirements, take beyond one year in order to meet worked hours (>6000) and case tracking requirements. Managers will need to meet with new hires and determine certification course, projected certification window, and track progress\n\nPhysical Requirements\nOngoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.\nFrequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.\nManual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.\nExpected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.\nNeed to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.
