Shifts are available on an as-needed basis to help cover team member time off, sick calls, leaves, and other department coverage needs. Opportunities may include days, nights, and weekends and may occasionally be available on short notice. This position is best suited for someone seeking occasional shifts rather than consistent weekly hours.\nEssential Functions\nMaintains ARRT or modality-specific competency in all clinical and technical functions.\nEnsures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam.\nPerforms exams per department protocol and reviews images for quality, clarity, and accuracy.\nAdheres to radiation safety guidelines and maintains a safe working environment.\nCompletes studies within acceptable time limits without compromising patient care or quality. Assists and instructs students and other Radiology Techs in exam protocols, procedures, positioning, and equipment.\nProvides appropriate patient education, ensures patient comfort, and addresses concerns.\nPractices appropriate infection control and sterile techniques.\nUnderstands and operates equipment and related information systems to ensure quality images.\nKeeps accurate records of patient information, procedures performed, and any adverse reactions.\nFollows protocols for medical necessity, coding, charging, consents, QC programs, and reporting equipment failures.\nSkills\nAnatomy knowledge\nImage evaluation\nEquipment operation\nContrast protocols\nEmergency response\nIndependent work\nTeamwork\nEffective communication\nElectronic imaging\nTask prioritization\nClean environment\nMinimum Qualifications\nAmerican Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)(R) certification\nRadiologic technologist license in state of practice (if applicable)\nBasic Life Support certification (BLS) for healthcare providers\nMay be required to complete the Medical Assistant (MA) Competency Checklist and perform the function of an MA in a clinic or InstaCare setting.\nPreferred Qualifications\nPrevious radiology experience preferred, but new graduates are encouraged to apply\nIV competency preferred\nCT and/or Ultrasound experience or cross-training preferred\nFlexibility to provide occasional coverage for nights, weekends, and short-notice shifts\nPhysical Requirements\nOngoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.\nFrequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.\nManual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.\nExpected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.\nNeed to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.
