If you want to grow and do meaningful work, you’ll feel at home here. \nLocation: Sioux Center, IA | Sioux Falls, SD | Omaha, NE\nTravel: Minimal\nThe Opportunity\nWe're looking for an Associate Counsel to join our growing Legal team and help support the business behind some of the nation's most complex industrial electrical, technology, and manufacturing projects.\nReporting to the General Counsel, you'll work alongside leaders across Sales, Operations, Project Management, Supply Chain, Human Resources, Finance, IT, Safety, and Executive Leadership to provide practical legal guidance that enables smart business decisions while managing risk.\nWhether you're an early-career attorney or a recent law school graduate looking to build an in-house legal career, this role offers broad exposure to commercial contracts, corporate matters, compliance, employment, intellectual property, construction, and strategic business initiatives-all while working directly with experienced legal leadership.\nWhat You'll Do\nProvide practical legal guidance to business leaders and internal stakeholders on a variety of day-to-day legal matters.\nDraft, review, negotiate, and revise commercial agreements, including customer contracts, vendor agreements, subcontracts, software and technology agreements, NDAs, and other business contracts.\nIdentify legal and business risks within agreements and recommend practical solutions that align with company objectives.\nSupport contract negotiations and help develop contract templates, playbooks, standard positions, and review procedures.\nConduct legal research and prepare written analyses, recommendations, and guidance for business and legal leadership.\nAssist with legal matters involving corporate governance, compliance, employment, intellectual property, litigation, claims, insurance, real estate, and strategic business initiatives.\nMonitor legal and regulatory developments affecting the business and assist with implementation of legal requirements.\nDevelop legal resources, policies, training materials, and internal documentation that improve consistency and efficiency.\nWhat You Bring\nJuris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.\nLicensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction or eligible to obtain admission in the applicable jurisdiction.\n0-3 years of legal experience preferred. Recent law school graduates are encouraged to apply.\nExperience reviewing, drafting, or negotiating commercial contracts through a law firm, judicial clerkship, internship, legal clinic, or in-house legal department is preferred.\nCoursework or experience in corporate, commercial, construction, employment, or intellectual property law is a plus.\nStrong legal research, writing, analytical, negotiation, and organizational skills.\nStrong judgment, attention to detail, integrity, and commitment to confidentiality.\nWhy Join Interstates?\nAt Interstates, legal is more than reviewing contracts-it's about helping the business move forward.
