Candidates must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer without restriction.\nThe Data Engineer builds and maintains the data foundation that powers dashboards, analytics, and data products across Interstates. This role integrates, transforms, models, and validates data from multiple sources while partnering with analysts, developers, and operational teams to create reliable, reusable data solutions. \nResponsibilities \nDesign, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines. \nIntegrate, clean, transform, and model data from multiple sources. \nDevelop and optimize advanced SQL queries. \nPrepare data for dashboards, visualization, analytics, and data products. \nMonitor and improve data quality, validation, and reliability. \nSupport data integrations, APIs, and data orchestration. \nWork with OT, manufacturing, and industrial data systems to understand data flows and requirements. \nBuild reusable, scalable data solutions and document processes and data flows. \nPartner with analysts, developers, and operational SMEs to translate business needs into technical solutions. \nSupport datasets and data foundations for advanced analytics and AI/ML initiatives. \nPreferred Skills \nPython or similar scripting experience. \nExperience with machine learning or AI/ML-ready datasets. \nExposure to time-series, sensor, or industrial equipment data. \nUnderstanding of manufacturing KPIs and operational metrics. \nExperience with modern data orchestration and integration tools. \nKnowledge & Expertise \nExperience in data engineering, analytics engineering, software development, or a related technical field. \nStrong SQL skills, including complex queries, joins, transformations, and data manipulation. \nKnowledge of ETL/ELT, data pipelines, data integration, and data modeling. \nUnderstanding of data quality, validation, governance, and lineage. \nAbility to work through ambiguous or messy data and independently troubleshoot problems. \nStrong ownership of data quality and downstream usability. \nAbility to learn new systems and technologies and engage SMEs when needed. \nStrong communication and collaboration skills. \nLocation: Selected candidate must be based or near one of the offices in Sioux Falls, SD or Sioux Center, IA.\nTravel: The amount of travel will vary according to business requirements (may be up to 10%).
