This role specializes in proactive sourcing and headhunting, with a strong focus on identifying, engaging, and hiring top talent nationwide for field leadership, traveling, and specialized technical roles.\nThe Senior Recruiter partners closely with hiring managers and business leaders to understand workforce needs, develop effective recruiting strategies, and build strong pipelines of active and passive candidates. This position also contributes to advancing recruiting tools, processes, and market strategies that strengthen Interstates’ ability to attract, engage, and retain high-quality talent.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead full-lifecycle recruiting for national roles, from sourcing and screening through interviewing, selection, and offer negotiation.\nProactively source and headhunt high-quality talent using creative and targeted strategies to identify candidates who may not be actively seeking new opportunities.\nBuild and maintain strong pipelines of passive and active candidates for current and future hiring needs.\nRecruit nationally for traveling field leadership, construction, industrial, and specialized technical positions.\nPartner with hiring managers and business leaders to understand staffing needs and develop tailored recruiting strategies.\nServe as a trusted advisor to hiring teams by providing guidance on talent markets, candidate availability, compensation expectations, and sourcing approaches.\nDevelop and maintain relationships with prospective candidates throughout the recruiting process and beyond.\nEnsure a positive, responsive, and professional candidate experience from initial outreach through onboarding.\nUtilize applicant tracking systems, sourcing platforms, recruiting analytics, and other recruiting technologies to support sourcing, applicant management, reporting, and decision-making.\nContinuously improve sourcing strategies, recruiting tools, interview processes, and overall hiring practices.\nUse recruiting data, market insights, and performance metrics to evaluate and strengthen recruiting effectiveness.\nEnsure recruiting practices comply with applicable federal and state employment laws and company policies.\nQualifications\nRequired\nBachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.\nFour or more years of recruiting experience across multiple disciplines and organizational levels.\nDemonstrated success in proactive sourcing and headhunting.\nExperience identifying, engaging, and attracting passive candidates through targeted outreach and relationship building.\nExperience recruiting nationally for field-based, traveling, leadership, construction, industrial, or specialized technical roles.\nExperience using applicant tracking systems, sourcing platforms, and recruiting analytics tools.\nStrong relationship-building, communication, influencing, and consultative skills.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and build credibility with candidates, hiring managers, and business leaders.\nPreferred\nExperience supporting hard-to-fill or highly specialized positions.\nPHR, SHRM-CP, or other relevant professional certification.\nExperience using market intelligence tools and recruiting data to inform talent acquisition strategies.\nEstablished professional networks within construction, industrial, technical, or field leadership talent markets.\nLocation\nThis position may be based at any of our office locations, including Sioux Center, IA; Sioux Falls, SD; or Omaha, NE, or may be performed remotely within the Midwest.\nTravel\nUp to 25% travel may be required to support recruiting activities, including team meetings, hiring events, career fairs, and occasional visits to jobsites.
