Our Purpose: Bringing quality, safety, and sustainability to life.\nWhat are we looking for?\nThe Fire Test Technician is responsible for preparing, conducting, and reporting small, intermediate, and large scale fire tests to industry standards in addition to developing and coordinating non-standard projects.\nShift/Schedule: 8AM-5PM\nThis position is considered an entry-level position with on the job training. Initial compensation will be based on previous experience in construction or product testing which is preferred (not required). In addition to competitive compensation packages, when working with Intertek you can expect benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k) with company match, generous vacation / sick time (PTO), tuition reimbursement and more.\nWhat you’ll do:\nTest and evaluate various building construction products in the laboratory.\nBuild and demolish mock-up test assemblies.\nPrepare small, intermediate, and large-scale specimens.\nAssist with client product installation (when needed).\nResearch and implement new test methods and procedures.\nTake full responsibility for projects as assigned.\nEstablish and price basic test plans for fire testing standardized methods\nReview and thoroughly understand testing requirements and document any deviations. \nWork with customers to accurately explain the testing process. \nCoordinate with the project and department managers to optimize efficiency and client satisfaction.\nCommunicate with clients on schedule, test preparation, procedures, results, and reporting matters.\nWrite test protocols when required and obtain approvals as necessary.\nPrepare and submit accurate and concise reports on all projects assigned.\nInvoice for all assigned projects.\nThis position outline is a general guideline and does not represent all encompassing details. The position assumes that the incumbent has both the mental and physical requirements to carry out the above defined duties.\nMinimum Requirements & Qualifications:\nHigh school diploma or GED required.\nComputer proficiency. \nKnowledge of basic hand tools and tape measure.\nAble to follow direction and work independently in a team environment.\nCandidate must be able to lift, push and/or pull (infrequently) up to 75 lbs with assistance.\n Must be able to bend down, climb ladders and reach over-head.\nMust be able to work at heights up to 40 feet.\nValid driver’s license and reliable driving record is required.\nPreferred Requirements & Qualifications:\nGeneral construction and or carpentry experience.\nKnowledge of equipment and tools used in building construction.\nAble to read and interpret technical standards and specifications.\nBe able to read and understand drawings and build accordingly.\nIntertek: Total Quality.
