Our Purpose: Bringing quality, safety, and sustainability to life.\nWhat are we looking for?\nThis Project Engineer position is responsible for performing testing and evaluation on a variety of Life Safety and Security products to determine compliance with applicable US, Canadian and other International product safety standards; writing reports; and communicating with clients, creating evaluation reports and test plans, conducting and/or witnessing testing, resolving technical and/or administrative issues. This position has the potential for 25% travel.\nSalary & Benefits Information\nThe salary range for this position is $80,000-$100,000 per year. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.\nIn addition to competitive compensation packages, when working with Intertek you can expect benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k) with company match, generous vacation / sick time (PTO), tuition reimbursement and more.\nWhat you’ll do:\nRead and determine applicability of national codes and standards clauses for the EUT (equipment under test);\nRead and understand schematics and manufacturing instructions.\nValidate the project scope and sample applicability.\nFollow sample handling procedures, ensuring that sample is logged in and out of the system. Move equipment as needed through the facility. Properly package sample for shipment.\nComplete preliminary design reviews (PDR) both on and off site.\nSet up and operate standard test equipment including, but not limited to spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, multi-meter, dielectric strength tester, ground continuity tester, digital multi-meter, surge generator, over-voltage tester, environmental condition chamber, and articulated probes. Use hand tools to build/calibrate test fixtures.\nPerform testing of products in accordance with standards. Core tests include, but are not limited to: rating, leakage current, dielectric, temperature, pressure, stability, mechanical hazard, flammability, abnormal and fault insurance, rain, radiation, sound, and laser.\nMentor less senior technical personnel.\nSupply information for quotes such as length of project, site needed, rental equipment, samples, and standards that will be used.\nProvide more specialized \"expertise\" in one product category, i.e., become reviewer, resident expert, or obtain and maintain advanced product knowledge.\nPerform field labeling jobs.\nProvide sales support such as attending client visits.\nCommunicate project status and test results to client, sales personnel, and management throughout testing. Provide on-going support to clients as needed.\nWithin policy guidelines, identify, properly document, and recommend engineering judgments.\nPerform other work as required.\nThis position outline is a general guideline and does not represent all encompassing details. The position assumes that the incumbent has both the mental and physical requirements to carry out the above defined duties.\nMinimum Requirements & Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in engineering\n2+ years relatable experience\nMust be able to work on-site, full-time\nValid driver’s license and reliable driving record\nAbility to work in fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities and demanding deadlines\nMust be detailed-oriented and able to effectively prioritize and organize workload, with efficient time management\nMust possess the fundamental technical and administrative skills required to perform the job duties\nAbility to make technical decisions and engineering judgments independently within established parameters\nExcellent communication skills, in both verbal and written formats\nExcellent organization and time management skills\nExcellent interpersonal skills\nMust be self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment\nMust be customer focused and quality driven\nProficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint\nAbility to travel as business needs dictate up to 25%\nPreferred Requirements & Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering\nPrior project management experience\nDemonstrated experience with U.S., Canadian, and other international product safety standards, i.e., ANSI, CSA, UL, EN, IEC, IEEE\nIntertek: Total Quality.
