Our Purpose: Bringing quality, safety, and sustainability to life.\nWhat are we looking for?\nThe Software Development Manager is responsible for leading one or more engineering teams responsible for the development, delivery and support of our platforms. This role is accountable for people leadership, delivery execution, technical guidance, and cross-functional collaboration, ensuring teams deliver high-quality software while fostering employee growth, engagement, and accountability.\nSalary & Benefits Information\nThe base wage or salary range for this position is $150,000-175,000. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.\nIn addition to competitive compensation packages, when working with Intertek you can expect benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k) with company match, generous vacation / sick time (PTO), tuition reimbursement and more.\nWhat you’ll do:\nPeople Leadership: Attract, develop, retain, and mentor high-performing engineers; conduct 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development discussions; lead recruiting, hiring, and onboarding activities.\nTeam Culture: Build and sustain a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, continuous improvement, and customer focus.\nDelivery Ownership: Own sprint planning, execution, estimation, prioritization, and release activities; proactively identify and manage risks, dependencies, blockers, and delivery challenges while maintaining a sustainable team pace.\nStakeholder Communication: Partner with stakeholders to communicate project status, risks, and mitigation plans, balancing short-term delivery commitments with long-term platform health and modernization.\nTechnical Credibility: Stay actively engaged through design reviews, code reviews, technical investigations, and hands-on contributions; serve as the escalation point for complex engineering and production issues.\nEngineering Excellence: Promote best practices in software design, testing, quality, observability, security, and reliability; champion modern engineering practices, automation, and AI-assisted development tools.\nCross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with Product Management, QA, DevOps, Technical Support, and Customer Success to ensure successful software delivery and positive customer outcomes.\nContinuous Improvement & Compliance: Drive root cause analysis following incidents; identify opportunities to improve workflows, tooling, and team effectiveness; ensure adherence to security, privacy, and operational standards; stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies.\nThis position outline is a general guideline and does not represent all encompassing details. The position assumes that the incumbent has both the mental and physical requirements to carry out the above defined duties.\nMinimum Requirements & Qualifications:\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.\n\n6+ years of software development experience with a strong technical foundation.\n\n2+ years of engineering leadership experience managing Agile teams.\n\nStrong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.\n\nProven ability to balance competing priorities and deliver results in fast-paced environments.\n\nExperience identifying, communicating, and mitigating technical and project risks.\n\nDeep understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies and engineering best practices.\n\nHands-on technical expertise with the ability to contribute to code reviews, design reviews, and technical problem-solving.\n\nExperience working with data engineering, including data warehouses, pipelines, data modeling, and cloud-based solutions.\n\nDemonstrated success driving continuous improvement, cross-functional collaboration, hiring/onboarding, and maintaining security, privacy, and compliance standards.\n\nExperience leading or working with data engineering teams, including teams responsible for data warehouses, pipelines, and data modeling.\n\nIntertek: Total Quality.
