Our Purpose: Bringing quality, safety, and sustainability to life.\nWhat are we looking for?\nThe Staff Engineer is responsible for supporting project work, conducting and attending audits, mentoring and training staff, as well as participating in technical standard development. This position will travel at least 25% of the time.\nSalary & Benefits Information\nIndividual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.\nIn addition to competitive compensation packages, when working with Intertek you can expect benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k) with company match, generous vacation / sick time (PTO), tuition reimbursement and more.\nWhat you’ll do:\nProvide local management with technical assessment of engineering skills and performance levels.\nResponsible for assessing training of the technical staff and development of new training programs.\nProvide on-going support and guidance on technical issues, test procedures, and standards interpretations.\nProvides expertise in multiple product categories. \nProvide quotes for a large array of standards and complex projects and products. \nResearch new standards, technologies, and trends in standards. \nDevelop and communicate test procedures. \nRepresent Intertek on technical committees, code panels and/or associations. \nSupport accreditations activities such as audit follow-up and corrective actions. Investigate technical complaints. Audit and qualify sites for special Intertek programs.\nActively review reports for multiple product categories.\nDesign new test fixtures and report shells. \nProvide complex sales support such as giving presentations during client visits. \nProvide on-going support to clients as needed. \nWithin policy guidelines, identify, properly document, and recommend engineering judgments. \nRecommend and prepare capital expenditure requests and manage capital projects. \nMentor less senior technical staff.Develop, lead, and/or support testing, inspection and certification programs. \n\nReview project files for compliance with operating procedures.\nMake technical decisions relating to the interpretation of standards, applicability of standards and development of test programs.\nParticipate in technical committees and standards development. \nAccomplish special assignments as directed by management. \nPerform other work as required. \nThis position outline is a general guideline and does not represent all encompassing details. The position assumes that the incumbent has both the mental and physical requirements to carry out the above defined duties.\nMinimum Requirements & Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in engineering\n6+ years of directly related experience\nAdvanced experience with U.S., Canadian, and other international product safety standards, i.e., ANSI, CSA, UL, EN, IEC\nAbility to apply principles of logic or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems\nAbility to deal with non-verbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) in its most difficult phases\nAbility to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables\nAbility to make technical decisions and engineering judgments independently where limited standardization exists\nExcellent communication skills, in both verbal and written formats\nAbility to travel 25%\nA valid driver's license and reliable driving record\nApplicants will be required to complete an I-9 to verify their eligibility to work in the U.S.\nApplicants must reside in and be able to legally work in the United States.\nPreferred Requirements & Qualifications:\nMaster's degree\n10+ years directly related experience\nIntertek: Total Quality.
