The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with business acumen, operating comfortably as a hands-on leader and a strategic voice at the executive level. They will manage a department undergoing transition, codify standard operating procedures (SOPs), maintain core enterprise systems (ERP, CRM, CMS, ticketing systems), and manage the technology budget.\nSuccess requires a proven capacity to translate complex technological initiatives into clear value for non-technical stakeholders, while balancing long-term strategic roadmaps with day-to-day operational needs. In the initial phase, the role will focus on the implementation and optimisation of core systems (ERP integration, e-shop and ticketing), ensuring operational efficiency and coordination with external partners.\nThis permanent position offers an immediate opportunity to shape the digital future of a landmark institution, starting with a strong operational and delivery-focused mandate, with a clearly defined pathway for career progression as the broader transformation matures. enrich the overall cultural experience.\nReporting Line:\nReports to: Chief Operating Officer (COO)\nMember of: Management Team\nThe role works in close collaboration with the Director General and other senior stakeholders to ensure alignment between technology, operations, and the organisation’s cultural mission.\nDuring the first six months, the role will provide weekly progress updates to the COO, transitioning to a monthly reporting cadence once operational stability and project delivery are established.\nResponsibilities:\nStrategy & Governance\nAs a member of the organisation’s management team, the successful candidate will lead the IT department, with a primary focus on stabilising core operations and supporting the implementation of key systems, aligning technology initiatives with the overarching institutional strategy.\nTake ownership of the organisation’s digital transformation and its roadmap, with an initial emphasis on ERP integration and operational stability, working collaboratively with stakeholders across departments and levels, and effectively prioritising critical delivery priorities alongside daily operational demands.\nManage the overall technology budget and service delivery, ensuring accountability and delivering value from both internal teams and external vendor partnerships (including implementation partners and system providers).\nSupport the optimisation of existing business processes through the effective use of technology, with a focus on operational efficiency and successful project delivery in the initial phase.\nLeadership & Transformation\nSpearhead the modernisation and effective operation of the IT department, defining and codifying SOPs and clear operational processes.\nImplement best practices in project management and operational processes, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, particularly in collaboration with external partners, with a strong focus on the delivery of ongoing ERP, e-shop and ticketing projects.\nManage and coordinate external vendors/consultants, ensuring delivery against agreed milestones and budget, and maintaining clear accountability across stakeholders.\nAs a team leader, set clear goals and KPIs, provide continuous feedback, and maintain a documented record of expectations to foster professional growth within a small, hands-on team environment (approx. 4 team members).\nEvaluate internal capabilities, identify knowledge gaps, and recommend targeted training, reskilling, or structural adjustments as needed.\nDigital Innovation & Cultural Experience\nContribute to the longer-term strategic roadmap for the digitisation and documentation of the organisation’s assets.\nProactively identify opportunities to utilise digital, data and technology to enhance business processes and promote revenue growth.\nSynthesise and integrate technology across physical and digital museum touchpoints to enrich the overall cultural experience.\nExposure to emerging technologies (such as AI, machine learning, and AR/VR tools) which modernise storytelling and deepen visitor engagement will be considered an asset.\nUnderstanding of data science and audience analytics to generate audience insights and inform decision-making will be considered a distinct asset.\nDigital & Physical Infrastructure\nEnsure the stability, reliability, and effective operation of core infrastructure, systems, and collaboration environments, with initial focus on supporting current business and project needs.\nTake ownership of the maintenance and management of the organisation’s digital infrastructure (ERP, CRS, CMS, ticketing systems, etc.), in collaboration with external partners where necessary, with particular emphasis on ERP integration and system interoperability.\nFormulate and implement comprehensive cybersecurity policies, information security standards, and data stewardship practices that protect data ensuring regulatory compliance and protect critical data assets.\nRequirements\nUniversity degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a closely related technical field.\n8+ years of progressive technology leadership experience, spanning IT operations and enterprise-wide digital transformation initiatives.\nProven experience in ERP integration projects (ideally Soft1 or similar systems).\nStrong experience in IT operations management and leading internal teams.\nExperience in managing external vendors/consultants and delivering projects with defined timelines and budgets.\nDemonstrated ability to lead complex organisational change and ensure successful delivery of ongoing projects in a dynamic environment.\nStrong knowledge of modern IT infrastructure, systems architecture, data management, and cybersecurity frameworks.\nExposure to data analytics and audience insights.\nFull professional proficiency in Greek and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.\nStrong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.\nAbility to communicate complex technological topics and initiatives clearly and effectively to non-technical stakeholders.\nProfessional certification in project management (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2).\nIn addition, the following will be highly advantageous:\nExperience in cultural, heritage, non-profit, or public sector environments.\nFamiliarity with digital preservation.\nAdditional certifications (e.g. ITIL, TOGAF,
