LLMs, Agentic Workflows & MCP\nCompany: International Logic Systems (ILS)Job Type: Full-timeLocation: Fairfax, VA 22033Work Arrangement: Hybrid - 2 days onsite per week\nOverview\nInternational Logic Systems (ILS) is seeking a skilled AI Engineer to design, develop, and implement next-generation AI solutions using Large Language Models (LLMs), agentic workflows, and Model Context Protocol (MCP)-based integrations.\nThe ideal candidate will have hands-on experience building and deploying AI-powered applications-not just training models-and a strong understanding of how to orchestrate tools, APIs, and data sources into reliable, scalable, and secure AI systems.\nLocation Requirement: Candidates must be local to the Washington, DC metropolitan area and available to work onsite at the ILS headquarters in Fairfax, VA, two days per week.\nResponsibilities\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign, develop, and implement agentic AI systems that can reason, plan, and execute tasks using LLMs.\nImplement MCP integrations to connect AI agents with tools, APIs, and enterprise systems.\nDevelop, deploy, and maintain LLM-powered applications, including AI copilots, conversational systems, and intelligent automation tools.\nBuild prompt pipelines, tool-calling workflows, and multi-step reasoning systems to support complex business use cases.\nDevelop backend services using Java (Spring Boot) and/or Python to expose AI capabilities through secure, scalable APIs.\nLeverage Spring AI or similar frameworks to integrate LLM capabilities into enterprise applications.\nDesign and implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines using vector databases and enterprise knowledge sources.\nIntegrate AI solutions with cloud-native services and platforms, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud.\nDeploy and maintain AI services, ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and performance.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver AI-powered solutions.\nMonitor, evaluate, and optimize AI systems for latency, cost efficiency, accuracy, and output quality.\nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications and Skills\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.\n5-9 years of professional experience in software engineering, AI engineering, or applied machine learning roles.\nHands-on experience working with LLM APIs to build AI-powered applications.\nExperience designing and implementing agent-based workflows and agentic AI systems.\nStrong understanding of prompt engineering, tool calling, and structured outputs.\nFamiliarity with RAG architectures and vector databases.\nExperience with MCP or similar standards for integrating AI agents with external tools and enterprise systems.\nExperience with at least one major cloud platform and exposure to others, including:\nAWS: Lambda, Bedrock, SageMaker, and S3.\nMicrosoft Azure: Azure OpenAI, Azure Functions, and Cognitive Services.\nGoogle Cloud: Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, Vertex AI, Cloud Functions, and BigQuery.\nPreferred Skills\nStrong programming skills in Python and/or Java.\nExperience developing backend services using Spring Boot, including REST APIs and microservices.\nFamiliarity with Spring AI or similar frameworks for integrating LLM capabilities into Java applications.\nExperience with Docker and containerized application deployments.\nBasic frontend development experience with React and/or Angular for AI-powered applications.\nExperience working in regulated environments, such as government, financial services, or healthcare.\nWork Conditions\nLocation: Fairfax, VA 22033.\nWork Arrangement: Hybrid, with 2 days onsite per week at the ILS headquarters.\nLocation Requirement: Must be local to the Washington, DC metropolitan area.\nJob Type: Full-time.\nEqual Opportunity Employer\nInternational Logic Systems (ILS) is an Equal Opportunity Employer and complies with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws.
