Why you Should Join Us:

We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer - Hybrid Energy Systems to lead the electrical design, sizing, simulation, development, and integration of state-of-the-art hybrid power and battery energy storage systems in the 5-200 kVA range, combining diesel generators, solar PV, and BESS for defense, stationary, and mobile applications.

The role combines systems engineering, electrical design, product development, and system integration, with responsibility across the product lifecycle from requirements and architecture through detailed design, prototype integration, verification, and qualification.

You will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, suppliers, and customers to develop robust energy solutions, including BESS, power conversion systems, and Energy Management Systems (EMS).

What You ‘ll Be Doing:

1. System Design & Development

• Lead the translation of system requirements into electrical and energy system architectures, including system performance modelling and definition of simulation requirements for hybrid energy systems.
• Own BESS sizing and performance simulations based on load profiles and project requirements, including the specification and integration of BMS, EMS and SCADA subsystems.
• Drive the development of system layouts and electrical designs, coordinating with electrical and mechanical engineers to deliver complete system packages, including wiring, cable and busbar sizing in accordance with international standards.
• Oversee the selection of electrical components and protection schemes, including the coordination of relays, fuses, and other protection devices, while considering functionality, durability, performance, efficiency and contractual requirements.
• Guide and mentor junior engineers, providing technical training, reviewing their work and supporting their development.

2. System Integration & Verification

• Lead system integration, testing, verification, qualification, and documentation activities, ensuring compliance with project requirements and system performance targets.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, suppliers, and customers to resolve technical issues and support prototype integration and deployment.

• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, specifications, test procedures and reports.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

• BSc/MSc degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably with a focus on energy systems or power engineering.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in electrical infrastructure design, preferably in Energy Storage Systems.
• Proven experience with Lithium-Ion battery energy systems and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
• Experience in electrical design for low-voltage and grid-connected applications.
• Good understanding of relevant IEEE, IEC and UL standards.
• Strong knowledge of AC/DC and DC/DC power converters.
• Experience in power systems modelling and simulation, using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink and PSpice.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership of technical activities and communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, suppliers and other stakeholders.

Desired:

• Postgraduate degree (PhD) in Electrical Power Systems will be considered an asset.
• Familiarity with high-power battery systems, BESS and renewable energy technologies.
• Familiarity with microgrids, grid interconnection and autonomous power systems.
• Fulfilled military obligations.
